It would be nice for Scout to offer Emergency beacon / SOS systems & Satellite-based text communication.
There are still many (hundreds if not thousands) of areas on highways and state and national parks without wireless coverage, and even those travelers who might not be hard core off roaders, there is still a need for emergency communications. I experienced this a few years ago driving my Bronco into the Solitario of the Big Bend Park in Terlingua, Tx. We were 20+ miles into the desert with no cell coverage and I was thinking how bad this could be if someone were to break down, run out of gas or get snake bit, etc.
=> The satellite-based messaging platform could let drivers send SOS alerts, text-like check-ins, or location pings even without cellular networks.
=> An emergency beacons (similar to the Brietling watch) could activate a satellite SOS message if something goes wrong, automatically transmitting your location to response centers for a paid monthly fee.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing what cool features Scout comes up with !
Cheers,
Mike
