Battery technology

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Range anxiety is a thing people have and In many cases is understandable, but most cases once you know your vehicle range anxiety is almost nonexistent if not erased completely, I don’t think I’ve felt range anxiety since getting my EV, but while researching and planning my decision I felt it heavily, after ther first 80% to 30% drive (about 120 or more miles) range anxiety faded and hasn’t really returned

If anyone is listening:

For the sake of the pure BEV options, please acquire and experiment with the chemistries and architectures discussed by these two articles:

https://cleantechnica.com/2026/02/1...-state-battery-with-500-wh-kg-energy-density/

https://electrek.co/2026/02/20/lithium-metal-giant-begins-semi-solid-state-ev-battery-production/

I suspect that these options will go a long way toward erasing range anxiety, especially while towing.
As a brand new start up Scout will not gamble with non proven battery tech. At least not upfront. Sales and consumer commitments need to grow first so SM has a solid base. Then maybe they will test but Jamie has already said the battery chemistries they will use and they aren’t deviating to start. Too easy to tarnish the whole company before they ever get a foothold. That said, welcome to the forum if I didn’t already

I think this is an accurate representation of Scout’s approach. That said, the large after-market that will likely develop for Scout could include a third party developing an integration for updated battery chemistry packs. If you have a Harvester and then double or triple your battery range… then you have that much more range.

Our platform has a certain degree of "room" built into it to support new battery technology as it becomes available in the future. The problem with a LOT of these new developments is that many aren't quite ready for mass production yet. Secondly, because there is no volume production yet and it is new technology, they tend to be really expensive until costs and pricing come down with volume.

Our teams are always looking at new battery tech and how and when we can integrate it.

Fair enough.

Glad to hear you say but I already think this is your approach. I want a robust, dependable Scout.
