Battery tech

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
SM is actively reviewing all option currently as 2 years could offer a game changing break through. They didn’t say much more but maybe @Jamie@ScoutMotors can shed more light. VWAG is also building new factory in Canada so that may impact things too but not sure what battery type they are producing there
I am a current reservation holder for the harvester, but I do not like the idea of losing the performance compared to the pure EV model. At this time, I am starting to consider skipping the first generation if they don't have better range on the EV or better performance on the EREV. If Rivian, which at this point VM/Scout basically own, is producing trucks with the performance and range right now, I have to imagine in 2 years this can at least be replicated in the Scout.

My recommendation is to wait for our final numbers on everything. :D
Good point. I have a 2012 Ford Raptor I bought new and I am hoping it holds on until 2027. Either way, the current specs even on the EREV are better than what I have now. I have been patient this long, what's another 2 years. I am really excited about this truck. I cannot wait.

Im hanging on till the final specs, but no matter what I'm buying a Scout in 2027. My Mini will probably go to my Parents. So at least my car will be in good hands since I don’t plan on getting rid of her anytime soon. While I’m enjoying my Scout Traveler Harvester.

I too will wait, the PowerCo plant in Canada, according to many in the reddit quantumscape post will be producing Quantumscape's solid state battery according to a statement (later walked back) by the new CEO of the plant. The solid-state battery should be able to get 600+ miles of range without any fossil fuel addition, will be lighter, not prone to fires, much better in cold weather, much better at hauling loads and will last significantly longer than the current proposed battery. Additionally it will charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes. I would even pay a premium for this battery if necessary.

PowerCo plant will be producing normal cells long before it's producing Quantuum Scape batteries.

They have to walk before they can run...

I too am willing to pay a premium for better battery technology.
