  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Who else do we want to do a hands on review?

I laughed pretty hard when Scott told Jay that this might the most expensive car he has driven. Personally though, I have seen enough of the concept vehicles, no matter who gets the next look. We have lots of footage showing what the vehicles will look like, and I love what I see (they had me at...

Global EREV battery capacity deployment is growing six times faster than that of BEVs

Question answered: In a great in-depth interview, Jay Leno asked this question at about the 32 minute mark.

    Scout Brand Ambassdor Program

Since this has developed into a posting our mascots thread: Rocky, the 70 lb All-American Rescue Mutt. He's looking forward to testing that back bench seat and slobering up the windows.

Global EREV battery capacity deployment is growing six times faster than that of BEVs

A question bouncing around my head since I wrote that.

Global EREV battery capacity deployment is growing six times faster than that of BEVs

What will happen to all the unused/decaying gas in EREVs and how will that affect the little generator engines? Modern gasoline formulations generally have a shelf life of around three to six months under normal storage conditions before they begin to oxidize and degrade. Degradation can lead to...

Show off your Scout holiday gifts

My wife is the most thoughtful gift giver. She knows I might be a little excited about this vehicle and gave me some stocking stuffers :giggle:

    Camp mode

Cross-posting from the accessories thread because it might be interesting to those in a camp thread. I just saw this unboxing video of a Rivian Travel Kitchen. Basically a Rivian-branded induction cooktop and workstation for the tailgate. It would be cool to see something like this with a...

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

I just saw this unboxing video of a Rivian Camp Kitchen. Basically a Rivian-branded induction cooktop and workstation for the tailgate. It would be cool to see something like this with a Scout brand!

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Nice to see the Scouts only behind the performance sport car designs. Also, why does the Rivian R3 look like a Yugo? Not the nostalgic look I would have chosen to bring back.

    240V Outlet on Traveller

I mean, I guess? If it is an option I know that I will add it and worry about what to use it for later. Home backup power here in tornado alley would definitely be a convenience. However, it seems like this would be able to be worked out through a level 2 home charger?

    iOS/Android app? - Forum Suggestion

Based on the VW-Rivian software deal, I am thinking that we can look at the Rivian software design as a good idea of what we are to expect. But I could be wrong.

Frunk: Boot drier? Other interesting Frunk tools?

That would be nice, even just to warm your boots on a cold day. On the other hand the humidity would need to be vented somewhere, because no one wants a moldy funky frunk.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Thanks for the link. It is pretty hilarious for them to compare a pre-production concept vehicle to a car that has been out on the market for years. "Overall winner: Rivian R1S The Rivian R1S is the winner of this comparison, but largely because it’s the only vehicle that’s currently available."...

? **Is the New Scout Shaking Up the Off-Road World?** ?

Nice AI-generated post that did not hit the mark. A tell (besides the wrong hyperbolic statements) is the bold formatting from Chat-GPT that always cut and pastes as asterisk surrounded text: **Text**

Option to delete the glass / cabana roof

I agree that the cabana top looks great and would be a lot of fun off road. However, every fabric top I have run across does not stand up to wear and tear, sun, and wet conditions (mold) over time. Heck, I struggle to keep a grill cover looking decent for more than two seasons. So to be...

    Electrochromatic Panoramic Sunroof?

VW has this in the new ID Buzz, so I would not be surprised if this tech was available. See 2:32 in this review of the ID Buzz

    Optional Third Row

Maybe an unpopular opinion but count me out on the third row option. There are plenty of other vehicles out there for that. In my opinion, 1) third row seats are very rarely used and take up valuable cargo space, 2) third rows are usually only comfortable for very small humans, 3) when a third...

    Basic or All Decked Out?

In high school, my '74 Scout II had one luxury amenity as far as I know - AC that worked great for two weeks at a time before the R12 leaked out of the compressor. I could never find the leak, so I bought R12 by the case from Walmart in the summers (apologies to the ozone layer). Maybe this...

    Basic or All Decked Out?

I would like to think that I am a "Basic with Amenities" guy. But if I am being honest with myself, I know that I would be disappointed passing on a feature that would add to my owner, (and just as importantly, the co-owner's) driving and riding experience. We hold on to cars for a while...
