  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    October 2024 Production Center Update

They could pull a trick from the 50's and have a fleet of Harley Servicars (EV of course) to go to owner locations

    Hard or rolling tonneau cover

The one downside to a rolling retractable tonneau is the extra bed space used by the box that the cover retracts into. Not a deal buster but still taking out a 6"×6" space at front of bed (and that's on a Frontier, for a larger bed on Terra think 8 to 10 inches square) would impact a full length...

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

I would consider the new Scout with hamsters on a treadmill under the hood.....or a Mr Fusion plant power plant (Back to the Future) The auto world is moving sometimes in fits and bits towards majorly EV and when the charging infrastructure supports it mainstream it will be.

New Scout To Be Revealed On October 24, 2024

Love the idea of an analog compass

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

I got a bunch of free merchandise with the first 1000 Solstice I actually did not buy

    Crawl

What could be convenient for hard core offroaders would be walk beside mode like found with several electric bicycles. 3-6 mph. Get to a sketchy place on the trail and command the vehicle at snail pace from outside

    Crawl

The equivalent of a GM 2 speed power glide with manual shifting would be a practical intermediary between motor and drivetrain
  8. J

    Crawl

First hunch is there will not be a transmission of any type that direct electric motor to driveshafts is the norm. I might be wrong but in theory as I see it an electric drive needs no multiplier of torque or speed although you will find similar on a handheld drill. An electric motor can run at...

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

Whether direct or dealer sale i would hope the service network is better than Rivian's Only 1 service center entire state of New York so if you live in Rochester and have to drive to Cleveland,OH or Brooklyn, NY which do you choose and to have todrive hundreds of miles for service....not even a...

    Navistar rebrands to International Motors

If removable roof is required to define today's SUV then there are only 2. Bronco and Wrangler (hopefully to be increased to 3 with Scout)

    Navistar rebrands to International Motors

While I agree Scout invented the modern SUV and was first with open top on same some acknowledgement should be given Willy's for starting the trend in 1946 and adding 4wd in 1949. https://blog.kaiserwillys.com/willys-station-wagon-a-history We had a late 50s 2 door on the farm. And we had a...

    Navistar rebrands to International Motors

It may also have several Iover H or is it Hover I logos that VW no longer owns (lost to Case-IH) But I agree, it would have made more sense to rebrand Navistar (a name that makes as much sense as Verizon) back to International first and then introduce Scout as its newest offering. Almost 20...

    Navistar rebrands to International Motors

IMC instead of IHC slight edit of old logos or stylized like the new leaning A in KIA . Now if they were to merge with Case IH and buy McCormick Tractor and the whole gang would be back together. Of course this solves where to buy and service our Scouts doesn't it

Little things I find annoying with my current car (lights, wipers, A/C)

I miss the headlight button on the floor. No matter what beam it was on pushing button with your foot changes it. A stalk could work the same. Instead of push pull it could be pull pull and is there any need to actually flash highs at someone? With halogens, high intensity discharge and bright...

    What If?

The front pre-collision sensors on my Bronco ice up all the time. An efficient cleaner for winter would have to use washer fluid and i am not a fan of applying washer fluid to painted surfaces. What is wild is that sensors and cameras if not painted certainly have a body colored surface and if...

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

My bad. We had a 1970's Light Line and I had never until recently seen a Terra and none were sold around us even though we also had a Scout II and true the Scout Terra is a whole different animal and just like the Scout 80 paved the way for the Bronco the Terra was a precursor of the Honda...

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

I envy you guys. Nashville is same distance for me as is Charlotte. Is it at Opryland convention center? Been there twice for Kubota conventions and the facility is too notch. For some reason I thought the reveal would take place at the factory. I am a smaller vehicle person. I presume a...

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

Get as many photos of the underside of these as you can. I don't expect a Canoo type skateboard as that exposes the batteries to the off road but with the note somewhere that these will sit on traditional ladder frames makes me wonder how the chassis will set Scout apart

    What If?

I have always thought that millions of pinwheels or similar devices all tied into the grid or even just for illuminated roadsigns planted along highways and turning due to the wind generated by passing vehicles could be practical. But instead if EVs could receive charging vis heavy duty...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

Until October 24 there are zero official renders. The VW you drove is not representative of their full line.
