  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

Back in the 50s one model of the Nash (Rambler?) had the ability to fold all the seats back to become a giant mattress. The idea was that you could take it camping and sleep in it. I owned one briefly. They were lumpy and bumpy to the point most campers would have chosen the ground outside...

That headlight adjustment wheel on the dash does not allow the aim of the lights to be raised, only lowered. Its purpose is to compensate when a heavy load in the back of a pickup causes an imbalance which results in the headlights going higher and blinding on-coming drivers. Theoretically you...

Thanks for the feedback. Now please do me (and a few others) a favour. Ask if any of the mules had radar or sonar detection systems on them. And if the answer is affirmative, ask for insight on their ability to shed impacted snow, slush, and ice.

Sorry, but the extremes are not enough. In fact, the extremes might not be as necessary, because very few vehicles will be subjected to the extreme weather and environmental conditions. What Northwest Passage and I are asking for is testing in the realities that many potential drivers of a...

Some suggestions that I believe would make Scout the best Electric Offroad option

That bright idea has been around since at least WWI, I guess it's gotten tarnished.

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Point taken, but the original post was about snow boarding, so my thoughts related to that. OTOH, your unheated garage is typically less than air tight. And it's my understanding that present day petrol engines burn so cleanly that CO isn't much of a concern any more. OTOH they can deplete...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Sounds reasonable on first reading. I assume that the Harvester generator would be integrated into the self-preservation mode that maintains the battery's climate control system, so this would be the next step above maintenance to charging. I wonder if in instances of severe cold it might be...

Some suggestions that I believe would make Scout the best Electric Offroad option

I'm glad to see your call for red lights in the cabin to preserve night vision. In the early days of aviation there was a general rule "red forward" which meant that all dials, gauges, etc. that the pilot's eyes normally would see had to be red -- to preserve night vision. Plus there's a...

I just hope they sometime do winter testing away from the "dry" snow of the Rockies and experience the wet sticky snow and highway sludge of winter we experience in the Northeast. (Well, just about the entire East and South this year.)

If mine mirrored your experience with your current vehicle(s) I'd be either hacking it or trading it in. Fortunately, while my Toyotas can occasionally be tricked by the things you mention it is truly rare and almost always easily understandable. One annoyance is that they turn off the high...

Absolutely!!!! With today's technology, both on the ordering and specifying software side and on the automated parts delivery to the assembly line side, I hope the day of "packaging" has finally seen it's demise. Perhaps it will need to persist for those in the mass-market class of buyers, but...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Yes, my '17 Rav4 Hybrid is similar. Android Auto, too, takes its sweet time and misses the connection about 1/3 times. My '23 Tundra however …. Not all delays are strictly internal: Yesterday it complained about the 10lb sack of potatoes I put on the rear seat. It was move it or seat-belt...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Yes, I understood your point about the luxury of warming up for those whose life is so organized that they can depend on their cell phones, remote apps, and programming skills to get the most out of their 4WD computers. And yes, I was drifting off topic but not entirely, as I expect that cold...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

All well and good, for those whose lives are so scheduled. But how important or essential is it? What about the volunteer firemen and rescue folks of our rural areas. The get the call, grab keys, and run. Their ICE can be moving within ten seconds of the door closing. What is the reality of...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Actually, from what I have read from the suicide prevention groups CO isn't much of a problem any more. It seems newer car engines produce very little of it. Apparently running a modern car in a garage depletes the oxygen but doesn't produce enough carbon monoxide to be lethal.

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Not so sure I like the heated windshield idea. I had one for a short while, and under many conditions it just made the snow build up into little burgs on the wipers and bigger bergs around the edges of the windshield. I also had one that had a batch of heat tapes on the windshield where the...

Since they are not in the 22"-54" height range for driving lights I'm assuming those are high intensity intended for off road use, I like them for that. So I'm interested in your design of the hoods required for those lights by California Law...

I checked the NY, CA, and WA regulations this morning. It looks to me that those lights up there run close to unacceptable, based on number of headlights, and height. The vendors of light bars and such certainly acknowledge the problem by clearly labelling their packaging "for off-road use...

As I recall researching the Federal regs on lights there was some mention of some state regulations (maybe Calif.) which severely limits the number of forward facing lights. Worth a check? I too like the concept and design, and agree they can be useful, but I hope they will be disabled at...
