  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I rewatched the Jay Leno interview yesterday. Scott said the Harvester genset is targeted to maintain the battery at 70 mph on the highway.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

They have to be qualifying and testing their batteries now, they can't switch late in the dev cycle. Can't you do brief or lunch recharges at stops around LA? Are you really driving non stop over 100 miles? The Harvester battery is in the 60-70 kWh range (Motor Trend interview) which works out...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

In addition to possibly affecting the genset a larger battery means a smaller gas tank, possibly compromising combined range.

What trim levels would you like to see at launch?

I'm so embarrassed that I did not mention this! Huge yes to tow package with: - hitch receiver, 7 way and 4 way plugs - auto enable tow mode when 7 way or 4 way plugged in - integrated brake controller in the center so the front passenger can reach it - ability to use weight distribution...

What trim levels would you like to see at launch?

Tough choice, for us it will come down to option availability. Will things be somewhat a la carte or will some things only be in certain trims? Yes to air bag suspension, maybe to a rear locker, no to front locker and sway disconnect. Yes to heated seats, ok to cooled seats. Yes to outside...

One feature that made you pull the the trigger on a reservation….

The Harvester. But like you said, they have done so much right, exterior design, interior design, payload, … The Ramcharger isn’t viable for us so with no other EREV options without the Harvester we would be looking very hard at the BEV.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

This is why we keep one of these in the front console and one in each seat back pocket.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Different strokes for different folks, but no way am I going to tolerate using a touch screen to adjust air vents .

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

They have said air bag suspension will be an option.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Good plan, but the cost of Rivian is an issue for us. AND THE SCOUT HAS BUTTONS AND SWITCHES!🎆 (Shouting my joy not yelling at you.) A good friend has an R1T, a beautiful truck but I would go nuts with the all digital interface.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I agree better late and right than rushed and buggy. And that the extra complexity is a concern. I hope though that with the dominance of Harvester orders they can prioritize it and pull it off as early as the BEV.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Welcome! All personal preference of course, but what year was the Passport? The lane centering on our 2023 Pilot is smooth and not overbearing to us. Lane centering sometimes drifts a bit as offramps split to the right. The adaptive cruise control tends to hang on too long when the vehicle in...

    Suggestions

I can’t imagine there won’t be built in nav. Seems like the built in does the best charger routing in existing EVs. My concern is on the other end, can I set up multiple towing days at the big screen on my Mac picking the roads that I want then transfer that to the Traveler for it to add...

Wow, my Apple TV subscription pays off! They did four seasons, Up, Down, Round, and Home.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I’m rewatching the Motor Trend interview to see if anything is said about rechargeing times and came across a factory item. At 21:20 Scott is talking about the BEV and Harvester using the same assembly line and says there’s a JIT operation (Just In Time) for which battery, one for the gas tank...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The Motor Trend interview has a section starting at 27:25 on "Understanding Scout Motors' Relationship with Volkswagen". Scott starts by saying Scout is part of the VW Group as a US LLC reporting into the VW Group. He goes on to say the VW Group is the sole funder right now, but Scout is...

What do you all do? Curious about Scout buyers occupations, or former occupations.

That also describes a lot of software engineering. Creative development is generally a small part of the total effort. Most of the time is spent testing before release and fixing bugs after release. A fondness for puzzles of all kinds is a help.

    Flat Tow?

I agree that being able to flat tow would be great, "need" might be a little strong. The Traveler can win on some attributes and loose on others, win some sales loose others. It does not have to go directly head to head with Bronco and Wrangler for all uses. For example, it could be a big hit...

    Flat Tow?

The problem is anchoring the fifth wheel hitch or gooseball. In ICE trucks the factory mount points are connected to frame members below the bed. EVs have the battery in the way. Even the Ramcharger won't have it. "Alas, Ram will offer no gooseneck or fifth-wheel hitch option."...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Thanks. I'm realizing my suggestion for a mix of Level 2 was ignorant bogosity. I was thinking of cost and total utility draw. I just looked it up and a typical Level 2 is 10-20 kW, an order of magnitude less than even a wimpy 150kW DCFC. I need to internalize that Level 2 is just for overnight...
