  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Infrequent drivers - Charge every day?

I’m speculating here, but I’d consider a couple things. For that kind of usage, if you can charge at home even with just a 110 outlet and you’d probably be fine. If charging at home is not an option, then I guess you can go three weeks or so between charges, without dropping the battery below...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Wouldn’t it be just 1 inch of clearance? Ie radius = diameter/2?

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Ok, I have to admit to a lot of ignorance on this subject, so this is an honest question, is there really that big a difference between 33s and 35s?

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I would never promote or support violence, but before we get too smug we should remember that all of the founders of this country were criminals, from the participants in the Boston tea party, to the victims of the Boston massacre, to Paul revere, to George Washington to every supporter and...

    Scout Sales Strategy: Territory Ambassadors

I’ve always been a bit confused by the dichotomy of “add this ceramic coating to make your finish bulletproof” and “the ceramic coating is so delicate you’re not allowed to wash your car”.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Yup. If you don’t have an on/off button, it just means you’re leaving the decision up to an algorithm. I prefer to have some say in the matter. If I want to sit in the car with the power off, or leave the power on when I get out of the car, that’s for me to decide. there have been issues...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

For now, it seems that is not an option because a certain leading ev maker went overboard on “fart noises”. This is why we can’t have nice things. https://www.theverge.com/2022/7/13/23206903/ev-low-speed-noise-rule-scrapped-nhtsa

Volkswagen EVs to Get Tesla Supercharger Access

Dunno details, but the way things are designed, it’s all dependent on software, apps, and accounts. Doesn’t have to be that way but that’s the way things are currently designed. So it’s not necessarily so useful to buy the hardware without then having to reproduce/license all the other...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I’m always a little hesitant with articles like this. They keep talking about the “platform’s” ability, but they don’t really say anything about the batteries. Platform matters in terms of maximum current and voltage, but if the battery can’t handle it, it doesn’t matter. Or if the battery can...

According to this article, teslas have a habit of disengaging autopilot right before an unavoidable accident  - https://electrek.co/2025/03/17/tesla-fans-exposes-shadiness-defend-autopilot-crash/

    33 Months of EV driving...

That’s useful data. Speed has a much bigger effect on efficiency for an ev than for an ice car, and range estimates seem to be focused on freeway speeds. When you’re traveling 30-40mph it can make a big difference in your range.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

When I saw “LEO” all I could think was that your dad somehow managed to launch the car into Low Earth Orbit

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Type? Way too much work. Just say it. Or better yet, it should just know. And if it guesses wrong and takes you somewhere you didn’t want to go, it’s an adventure!

    Traveler without rear tire carrier

Makes me wonder if there could be a way to use the swing arm for things besides a spare, eg remove the spare carrier and attach a bike carrier. Maybe it would require some aftermarket modifications, but it’d be an interesting possibility.

Hmm, I’m not sure I can reach knobs on the windshield

Unfortunately I had a brilliantly worded post that contained a beautiful solution to all our problems that would have brought tears of joy to everyone’s eyes, but now I can’t quite remember the details. #VogonConstructorFleet
