  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Center Headrest

I’m cool with a digital rear view, like a back up camera, but if they use the rear view mirror as the screen, I’ll probably never use it unless the physical view is completely blocked. I’ve tried them before and the view is limited, there’s no way to easily/quickly adjust to see something just...

    Travelall 3 Row

I think you’re right, they’re wisely choosing to build for the market. Personally my preference would be something a few inches thinner and shorter (height wise), and I’m hoping that’s on the table eventually, though I’m guessing their third vehicle is more likely to be a 3 row suv. Rivian r2...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

I must be tired. My mind immediately went to wandering about the functionality of an “automatic prank feature”. Combine it with Easter eggs and the possibilities are endless 🙃

    Door Handles!

I’ve often wondered if the flush door handles really make a useful difference in real world range. I’d love to see someone measure range with and without sticky-outy door handles.

    Easter eggs

ok, it took me way too long to figure out why you need to start a fire to tell how close the arrow is to the target 😜(night time archery?)

Apple CarPlay ULTRA for Scout: A Game Changer for Infotainment?

The software “under the hood” is almost certainly coming from the joint venture with Rivian that VW is investing $5+ billion in. Rivian software and architecture seems to be very good by all accounts.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Great video, though one thing concerns me. While it has nice chunky door handles, he seemed to indicate that the opened electronically. I’m really hoping maybe that just refers to how they unlock, like on keyless entry cars. @Jamie@ScoutMotors can you clarify? Do the door handles operate...

I think will ferrell was already pushing EVs for GM, or so Norway said -

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Nuclear power is great, nuclear waste not so much, so I’m not a huge fan overall, but improving electric supply and infrastructure has to be good for EVs. Way better than coal, at least.

Please not in a mall, I can barely bring myself to visit the local mall any more. “The pain, the pain”🙃

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

With OPD you only have one choice, and it is rarely the choice I want. 99% of the time when I take my foot off the gas the gas I want to either coast or gently reduce speed. Using my foot to very carefully adjust regen is terrible ergonomics for me, and many people’s experience indicates that...

    E Axle Brand Poll

So, I’ve got a reasonably good grasp of physics, but admittedly no expertise on suspension or off roading. Could someone enlighten me about the tradeoffs between independent rear suspension vs solid axles in this context? That article also mentions leaf springs, I thought those went out with...

    Overbuild the tailgate swingout!

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen at least one pic with a gas can added to the swing arm.

    Intuitive D/B Mode Switching - A Must-Have for Scout!

Welcome! There’s a lot of discussion about paddles/regen/one pedal driving in other threads, you might find those discussions interesting. The way Hyundai/kia has implemented paddles, it covers “D”, “B” and several levels in between, I find it very convenient and intuitive.

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

The problem with only having regen on the gas pedal is you either end up limiting how much regen you have, or you have to very carefully feather the gas so your passengers don’t get seasick. Paddles make it easy, so opd folks get what they want, coasters get what they want and everyone in...
