  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

I think this was one of the reasons why Rivian built the skateboard model for their frame and battery from the ground up... Completely flat bottom / nothing impeding efficiency (and great clearance)

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The reddit FUD cycle in full effect... Puh-lease.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

Rivian does the same thing... Enterprise rentals if you need to leave your truck at the Service Center (and they have no loaners available)

I don't have one, because I'm not sure there is one.

I guess if the Scout had a 4Cyl turbo-charged engine under the hood that could turn an axle, gave up on the frunk and then cut the Harvester's pure EV range in half, then yes I could see that being a good comp (at least for estimating Scout's potential performance & numbers).

My personal preference would be to support American companies (like Rivian & Scout) offering American-built trucks. Of course we live in a global economy with world-wide sourcing of different types of materials and parts, but buying a BYD is buying from a Chinese OEM, which is very different...

The BYD has a 4cyl turbocharged engine under the hood though (and no Frunk), and offers ~62 miles of EV range I believe. I view this as a very different set-up, no? And it is of course it is Chinese (and not made here in America).

Most Iconic Location(s) for Scout Ads

Yes, of course, but range is very dependent on variables like gradient, wind direction, temperature, accessories, speed, towing, tires, wheels, height of the vehicle etc. If you run for 500 miles straight, deplete the battery and the reservoir, then ONLY fuel up, even assuming you just can "gas...

On a longer road trip at HWY speeds, and to maximize the FULL amount of range, you will likely need charging and gas. How often? depends on your driving and the conditions. That will all come out in the testing. Personally, the beauty of the pure BEV for me is the sheer simplicity of it, since...

Most Iconic Location(s) for Scout Ads

Good thing you don't have to drive coast to coast everyday... But consider this, you will also want to eat and take breaks. Charging and eating at the same time is a pretty relaxing way to approach a long road trip like that - esp if you plan a bit and use chargers close to real food. Definitely...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Right, I do understand the behavior you are describing, I suppose you could have both, but you don't really need a "start/stop button" to do any of that with a modern SW platform and with the implementation of different modes. Using your example, you can leave humans or pets locked in the...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Honestly, after having an EV truck with no start/stop button, I don't know what purpose it would serve (other than to start the Harvester generator while parked perhaps?). Would love to understand what this start/stop button is supposed to do. Perhaps the pure BEV will not have a start/stop...

If we are talking Dunkin' & New England, this pretty much takes the cake for Iconic ORV spots. Tough to beat the Cape Cod National Seashore at Sunset this time of year. Grab a cooler, some surfboards or surf rods, let a little air out of those BFG's & pop that Terra into into Soft Sand Mode.

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

Some great points here, and I will add that a whole bunch of people have bought Rivian's (and other EV's like the Lightening) on farms and other rural settings for work, and as work trucks - particularly in the case where they may have installed solar, or may be even completely off-grid. EV's...

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

Yes, and I own an EV truck (R1T) and I tow a boat. For my own use case (and preference) I have reserved a PURE BEV TERRA. I won't even consider the Harvester, I have no range anxiety and certainly have no range anxiety for daily driving, and no problem with capacity or capability. I'm not even...

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

Hauling heavy loads will decrease your range (in either an ICE or an EV truck), just as adding accessories will increase your drag and decrease your range, as will adding massive mud chucker A/T tires. People often forget that when they add huge AT tires on a truck with a 3" lift it will croak...

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

Good discussion and I can see both sides of this argument! At the end of the day, if it's your first time here, you probably want to ease into it and not come in all guns-a-blazing. I think some of the veteran members want to keep it tidy and not have a million threads on the same topic, which...

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

Yeah, the issue with Riv service is that they are still growing into their own network and will be launching a more mass-market vehicle with the R2, but who knows.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

There is also the issue of confusion and possible brand dilution going to VW, or even aligning too closely with VW as a Scout backer. Independence seems to be something that is very important to the Scout brand and moniker. "Are you buying a Scout or are you buying a VW with a Scout logo?" "I...

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

Completely agree with the above and charge to 100% all the time before leaving my house on a long road trip with virtually no degradation after 50K miles.
