  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Overbuild the tailgate swingout!

This is EXACTLY why I posted this. I see the media pics with a 35 and a single can and all I can think of is “man I better not have to reinforce it just to hold a second fuel can or, god willing, a 37”. Imagine throwing a trash bag and some firewood and a second can on there and having it crack...

Healthy mix these days, I think? Ram 1500 has coil rears, Tacoma and Ranger made the switch, and I think even the Ram 2500/3500 is on coils now. Pretty sure the Ford and Chevy lines are all leafs in the back though. Maybe Frontier as well since it’s ancient. Tells you which trucks are meant...

I admittedly skimmed this, but should be a good and more in depth primer @oldgeeksguide : https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/1703-axle-101-solid-reasoning-or-independent-thinking

Leaf springs are still around, mostly in 3/4-1 ton trucks and commercial applications. They’re super simple, durable and easy to make, but not the most fine tuned and don’t play well with independent suspension (meaning, you can have independent suspension up front and leafs on a solid axle in...

    Overbuild the tailgate swingout!

For the Travelers equipped with the spare tire swingout/gas can mount, please build it to reliably handle more than just that weight. It would be nice to be able to have enough safety factor to just add on more mounting points for more stuff - more fuel cans, water, traction boards, shovels...

Not to put a bullseye on your wallet, but 35s mean more sidewall to absorb all those potholes and bad road conditions! 🤷🏻‍♂️ -someone on 35s and 17s in Baltimore.

Early wheel input: the turbine-ish wheels on the Traveler concept sketches were INCREDIBLE

Maybe…some summer offroad testing shots like the winter drifting video we saw?

Partially answered my own question, for the Magna variant at least (40lbs heavier): https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/magna-electric-heavy-duty-pickup-demonstrator-review

I’d bet Dana. Interesting video of their ebeam on a jeep running Moab: And a fun hint from Dana themselves last year. Nothing certain but: https://www.toledoblade.com/business/development/2023/07/28/smoother-production-propels-maumee-based-dana-to-improved-second-quarter/stories/20230728114...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Ford did great with this on the Bronco - if it came with upfitter switches (like Scout shows 👀👀👀) there was wiring pre run to the most common accessory points. Front bumper, rear trunk, mirror mounts, front roof.

Scout Community Package, let's make this happen!

    Special/First Edition Scouts

They were beadlock capable and shipped from the factory with beauty rings. You can order a bead lock kit that just bolts right up from Ford Performance. Those wheels now appear to be optional with the Sasquatch package with some trims, but not with others, with a default non-headlock capable...

One feature that made you pull the the trigger on a reservation….

Front bench seat in a 4x4. Plus the Harvester sold me on having an EV. I spend 10 months a year driving <20 miles per day, and then the rest of the time going where there aren’t chargers, including 1300 mile daily drives.

    Special/First Edition Scouts

Yeah, I know, but a guy can fantasize. There’s a ton of logical reasons to roll out high feature models first (like $$$ and social marketing showing the maximum possible). I don’t know enough to second guess it. I think there’s a growing desire for the *appearance* of cheap model trims (see...

    Special/First Edition Scouts

Call it the “Original Edition” or “Wanderer” or one of the cool trademarks you have hanging out and price it extra low: Cheap interior, no luxury features except the federally mandated safety gear (I’d take seat heaters though), specced with the Offroad package and Harvester option. Some unique...

    Trade-In with EV direct sale

I forgot to add - if you are certain you will trade out in 2-3 years, and are certain you will only drive a certain amount of miles each year, you might consider leasing. Leasehackr.com has excellent explanations of leasing. I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to safely teach the ins...

    Trade-In with EV direct sale

No matter what you buy (except for maybe a 4Runner or Tacoma), depreciation will eat you alive if you buy a car to only have for two years. The breakeven point used to be on average about 3-4 years. I believe the industry number now is 5-6 due to rates increasing and loan terms increasing...
