  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Harvester towing

Just out of interest, has it been confirmed the Harvester towing capacity is the same for both the Traveller and Terra, or is there a chance the Terra Harvester could have a higher figure?

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Unless it’s an LFP battery which needs to be charged to 100% every week or so, 80% is usually recommended for daily driving (or less). You can still charge to 100% at fast charging stations, it just takes a long time once you’re above 80% charge so unless there’s no chargers where you are...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I agree that there's no way Scout's are getting anywhere near to Lucid levels of efficiency, pretty much impossible based on their design. I'm thinking for highway driving in the Terra, it's going to be around 2-2.5 miles per kWh. I still hope the BEV option will have about a 150 kW usable...

    Delivery date

My guess would be the first models will be sent out late 2027 but that could be in really limited numbers (I'm thinking in the tens or hundreds to meet the 2027 release date target) and then the bulk of us will get them in 2028.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I think it's because of the limited charging up there (assuming there aren't other fast chargers between stops listed on that trip). Normally you'd want to arrive between 0-10% and leave by 60% latest to get the most of the curve, the most time wasted is at the top end charging so if you have to...

    Dealership cartels - horror stories

This is one thing I've always found weird. I'm from the UK originally, and there it was always order specifically what you want and the dealer orders it in from the manufacturer. Granted you could never go in and leave same day with a car but that was always what we were used to. When I first...

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

I'm not sure how accurate that list is anyways, I don't think Tesla is at 100%, even though it's the most 'American' car manufacturer. I think it will be difficult to get 100% of all the car parts, materials, chips, batteries etc. to be US only. I guess the other question could be, if it is...

    Resale Value/Depreciation

I don't think there will be much depreciation initially, at least until production is fully ramped up and supply is meeting demand. All EVs seem to depreciate a lot, possibly due to uncertainties over batteries and lifespan. I'm sure as more EVs come up to 10+ years old and assuming there are no...

Is There Any Comparison Data to Other Brands on GVW, Body Dimensions, Off-Road Angles

It’s surprising how wide the R1T is compared to the F-150 Lightning.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

It would depend on exactly how much you use in the house and state of charge of the vehicle when starting, but I'd say a couple of days if you're powering the whole house. If it's just a few appliances like the fridge and a few lights etc. then it might be a week or more. If there was no power...

Infrequent drivers - Charge every day?

I would just leave it plugged in at set at 50% until I needed to use it based on that scenario and charge up a little when needed for those short trips. It should still be fine if you just charged up to 80% and left it until it was down to 20-30% or so though before charging.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

That looks a lot nicer than the old MG TF convertibles I remember seeing back in the 2000s.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Start/stop button, certainly not needed on the full EV version (don't know if it's really needed for the Harvester or not). Should just turn on when the door opens and be ready to drive when brake pedal is depressed and put in drive.

    Driving Distance Poll

I had this experience on my road trip in Quebec, I went to a national park further north, I was expecting to use a lot more energy than I did, especially given the cold and snow on the roads. I even charged to 95% at a supercharger and I never go that high normally. Even after spending most of...

    Driving Distance Poll

I did actually drive my Tesla there and back. Left home at 100% on Friday evening after work and stopped in Middletown, NY at a hotel with a free level 2 charger. Left in the morning at 98%. My efficiency in Canada was definitely lower with the cold and also snow on the roads pretty much the...

    Driving Distance Poll

I work from home but usually we do just over a 400 mile round trip every month, can charge at our destination so just need about 210 mile range with a ideally 15% or more left when we arrive as a little buffer. We do longer trips on a yearly basis. Just got back from Quebec a couple of weeks ago...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

My EV turns on as I open the door and I can put it straight into drive without a start button so I can be going within 3 seconds of being in the car if I need to. I'm not a volunteer firefighter or anything like that, but you don't have to precondition them if it's an emergency or you need to...

    Automatic Retractable Electric Running Boards

I'm in two minds, I definitely want running boards (my wife has short legs), but not sure I'd prefer automatic or just fixed. Automatic can fold away and likely help to a small degree with efficiency, but fixed have nothing to go wrong with them.

Does Scout Motors Need A Challenge Coin Too?

My argument to this would be, if it's the most effective and best model, then have an option to either purchase through a dealer or direct from the auto manufacturer, and then let people decide which is best. If everyone thinks dealers are better then no one would order direct from the...
