  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I'm dubious about anything exceeding 2.0 miles/ kWh (ON AVG)... The Lucid and BMW comparisons are very different. When looking at the Terra or Traveler, the tires and wheels are much heavier, the shape is much boxier, the heights are much taller and there is more air moving underneath, over and...

Future Model: Scout Sport- Smaller, and more efficient, but still capable.

I'm guessing these R3's are going to fill part of that void and be wicked fun to drive... Or RALLY.

    Scouts with Handicapped Adaptability

Air provides a really nice (and easily adjustable) ride. Also allows for easy clearance over obstacles, made even easier in a flat-bottomed truck in my case. But they can be expensive, expensive to fix & maintain, and potentially less serviceable off-road. Air is also great for camping...

    Scouts with Handicapped Adaptability

Lots of different ways to handle stupid human tricks. Default is interesting, as many people want the opposite and to permanently override whatever the default is, so when they get into the truck it has all preferences saved to a profile, as you mention.

    Scouts with Handicapped Adaptability

It should go without saying that air can be a great feature, and one that can come in handy for clearance off-road, or lowering for any number of reasons. You just need to be aware of how friction works when the camber changes, and you need to account for being on dirt or pavement. If you're...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Well, I'm not exactly sure how that would work when you have depleted both energy sources below their "critical" levels (wherever those may be set), even when NOT towing. Why? B/C you need to charge the truck battery PRIOR to moving the truck, and it takes some time to charge a battery. The...

    Scouts with Handicapped Adaptability

No. Never had an alignment in 45K Miles. You're likely conflating potential tire wear with possible camber issues with "alignment". A lowered suspension will create a situation where the tires have some degree of negative camber, and conversely riding around in a high setting will result...

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

This is pretty cool, hope you don't mind a little more Rivian content with a bad ass Olympian Mountain Bike ambassador. Check out Kate Courtney's insta @kateplusfate . She is now sponsored by Rivian and racing MTB's on the World Cup Tour: Here's another one of Rivian's Stories with the badass...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Looking at the above, what is still left undetermined at this stage is what happens next (when both energy sources are depleted). I would be surprised if we had an answer to this in the short term. Once you reach the gas station AND you have depleted your battery to below X% SOC, how long will...

    Rivian Rs2 vs Scout Traveler

VW and Rivian have a joint partnership, which means they can co-develop based on the JV. I would be very surprised if Scout didn't use the JV & its own SW engineers to do its own feature development for their own vehicles. Also, a Scout is a Scout (not a VW), so I would be completely...

    Gear ratios

Yeah, I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of the 4-motors, which is pretty unique... These ZF systems seem to be targeted toward off-roaders. Don't know much about them and I'm not an engineer.

    Gear ratios

I'm guessing with the Rivian partnership in place we might see similar functionality to this. I use it in my truck to swap between AT's and dedicated Snows in winter:

    Built-in hydraulic or electric jacks

Basically, and b/c you have a battery pack running across the bottom of the truck, you have very specific jack points. You do not want to damage the battery pack (even with underbody protection). I have a set of jack-pucks in my truck that fit into the jack points, but in reality, most service...

In what movie franchise would you like to see the new Scout make an appearance?

Yes, for sure with cars, but I was thinking trucks with LR... I think the Aston Martin's are iconic bond rides... Fitting to a T.

Thinking of a looooong road trip as an intro:

Personally, I would never run KO3's in winter here, and if your tires are going to wear-out eventually anyway, and you plan to keep the truck and own it (not lease it), I would want to have a dedicated snow to swap in and out. but I also drive in a lot of snow storms when most people don;t want...

In what movie franchise would you like to see the new Scout make an appearance?

I think LR had Bond pretty well locked-up in the UK. Maybe MI in the States

Thinking of a looooong road trip as an intro:

At the end of the day, and if its your first EV, you are probably gunna drive a little more Koo koo than you drove your ice car - especially off the line. The sooner you get over the Koo koo phase, the longer your tires will last. If you live on chunky roads, they might not last long. If you...

Thinking of a looooong road trip as an intro:

Yes, this. When you are road tripping it likely to be a faster trip if you stop to charge within the fastest part of your charging curve, and that usually means stopping between 10-20%SOC and charging to 80% or so, then repeat. We'll also need to see what the actual charging curve for the Scout...
