  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Special/First Edition Scouts

The difference (and reality) is that Rivian was forced to give up a bunch of margin when the supply chain stopped and COVID hit. Any business would have raised prices, but it was very hard for all early reservation holders to accept (after waiting for years). Its a tough one for a new company...

    Special/First Edition Scouts

One thing that Rivian did (that I believe was smart with their Launch Edition) was a limited edition paint. You could opt to pay-up for some more expensive colors, or you could take advantage of the Launch Green color (which was considered a premium paint) at no extra charge. Launch Green proved...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Just to be clear since there are a bunch of people here that have not owned and EV, those percentages may or may not be the case for all EV's. Every charging curve is different, and even current charging curves can change on existing vehicles with OTA's. We have seen the charging curves get...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

Extended wheel wells and fat flaring fenders don't make a vehicle any more capable, not to mention way less efficient. I hope Scout doesn't cheapen the brand with an overbaked version that looks aggressive for the sake of looking aggressive. Every Bronco I see with flares looks like it is hiding...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Its actually targeted for 350 miles, and it is completely fine to charge to 100% if needed. For example, when starting a road trip that will exceed your range limit, you would want to top off at 100% then hit the road. Charging to 100% is not recommended for daily driving. It also makes more...

    Scout Deal Breakers

Correct, I would be misunderstanding how it will work (in that case), because I have not seen Scout state that this is how it will work. If that is how it will work, please show me where Scout has stated that genset can also power the electric motor directly - because that means that it will...

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

I think I need to reply to my own post based upon the image below. I know this is an early image, but based upon the solid rear axle, it doesn't look like any part of the battery pack will actually sit "over" the top of the axle. It does appear that the pack extends as far as possible rearward...

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

To me, this quote is the most important part of the article (based on the worst parts of driving pick-up trucks in the shoulder seasons, or in winter on frozen backroads, washboard roads, freeze/thaw dirt roads, mudded out class IV roads etc)... Only one edit, b/c I'm fairly sure the author...

    Keep it Simple - Please

I would skip and just refurb an old Scout based on that list.

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

Keep in mind that there are precursor electric trucks on the market already (mine has been on the road for 3 years), so Scout will be competing on range AND will have additional time for some enhancements based on newer technology at production. Anything under 300 won't really fly for a pure BEV...

    Keep it Simple - Please

Rivian just removed 10 ECU's and 1.6miles of wiring with the launch of their gen2 units. From Rivian: Advanced Technology Our second generation R1 vehicles feature an entirely new electrical architecture and compute platform which reduces 17 ECUs found in first generation vehicles down to 7...

Back to Baja: The NORRA Mexican 1000 Live Update Log

This is pretty impressive stuff... What a surprise looking at that truck: A 196ci four-cylinder powers the Race Terra with 86 horses. Instead of the Race Terra’s close-ratio four-speed manual transmission, the 2.0 version gets a wide-ratio four-speed manual. IH offered a two-speed gear drive...

    Off Road Performance

Scout is an independent company, so the new version is not from VW. While VW has an ownership stake, this is not a VW. In terms of toughness and off-road capability, I would point to the Rivian R1T, as there a tons of videos of the truck doing incredible things like Hells Gate, Rubicon...

    Flat Tow?

Since the R1T hides the Spare underneath the bed entirely, I would guess that it would never be able to tow a gooseneck. https://www.motortrend.com/features/2022-rivian-r1t-spare-tire-review-explained/photos

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Can't say I have ever seen an EA station that was not a DCFC, but if I am going to stop at any EA it is for a fast charge, so I am filtering for DCFC. Also, Rivian has some super nice pull-through charging stations in place (as part of their RAN network).

What's the timeline (w/ charging and fill-ups) for a 720 mile road trip (no towing) with and without the harvester?

The million dollar question. So many variables. We won't know the answer to this until we have all the spec's and can do a side-by-side. Also depends on how you charge or how you charge and fill up, which wheels and tires, weather/temp, accesories mounted to vehicle, weight of the vehicle, final...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I'm not a huge fan of Walmart (and have never actually stepped foot inside one), but I have charged at EA stations that are located in Walmart lots and they are quite convenient. Having the backing of a giant retailer is a good thing - esp as a "value retailer". They should be competitively...

All EV/BEV needs its own name!

I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of adding any extra naming and I'm leaning toward the side of keeping it simple. Without the "Harvester", you either have a Traveller or a Terra, and that may be enough. I was thinking that maybe a play on Electrall to "ElecTrail" or something could work, but I...

    Illinois Dealer Fight

The direct purchase of my Rivian R1T was the best purchase experience I have ever had. These dealer lobbies are no different from the taxi cab lobbies that tried to prevent ride shares like Uber and Lyft from entering major markets. The direct model drives competition & fosters consumer choice...
