  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

Its a $1500 upgrade on the Gen2 Rivians, and looks like you need the LG Pack to get the option: "The most exciting feature coming on the refreshed R1 models is the Dynamic glass roof, which costs $1,500 on Adventure models and is included with the Ascend package. It's unavailable on the Dual...

    solid state battery option

I heard recently that Rivian is moving to a full, US-production LG battery with cells that will be made in AZ. Currently the LG cells are produced in Korea and the batteries get assembled at the plant in Normal, IL.

    Special/First Edition Scouts

I believe a forged beadlock wheel is typically much heavier when you factor-in rings & bolts, plus you would be running bigger, heavier and less aerodynamic tires and less aerodynamic wheels (with the rings and bolts). I imagine that the range impact with Beadlocks would be severe?

    Special/First Edition Scouts

Are the Bronco Wheels just lookers, or are they true beadlocks? I was under the impression that OEM's could not deliver trucks with beadlocks due to DOT regulations. Although I use my truck in places where AT tires are great, I don't do any type of rock crawling at all, have no plans to in the...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

    Harvester towing

100% understood, and certainly making your case here for others to see is fine. Let me be more clear - I was simply clarifying your statement, which said "towing with an EV is a non-starter" because that is not true. Towing with an EV is a non-starter for you (which I understand, since you...

    Harvester towing

This may be true in your case, but not everyone's case. Pure EV trucks can be excellent for frequent and repeated hauling of things like boats for example (back and forth to the ramp), equipment trailers (job site to job site) or even basic homeowner needs like trailering to the dump. I envision...

    Externally configurable buttons

Correct. And you don't have to pay anything if you don't want Connect+. With the HotSpot and other Connect+ features I listed above, its $149 / Year. I used to carry around a WiFi puck and had a separate subscription for WiFi, now I just use the truck and can use my iPhone as a HotSpot too...

    Externally configurable buttons

I'm completely lost. That is in fact what Rivian already did. They started charging for data and connectivity (rightfully so, since they incur a cost for WiFi). What they aren't doing (and what most manufacturers that I'm familiar with DON'T do), is charge for basic functionality or settings...
  11. R1TVT

    Externally configurable buttons

There is no requirement (at least in the case of Rivian) to "pay for the app" to access features and functions. They eventually implemented an annual fee ($149 / year) for connectivity (that they call Connect +) that includes a hot spot and other features like streaming and data access. It has...

    Externally configurable buttons

Many of the requested functions here can be either built-in to the truck or the app. For example, if you needed wheel-chair accessibility and kneel mode to get in and out of the truck more easily, you don't need to have a separate button or separate FOB... You can just set your configuration for...

    Special/First Edition Scouts

I would envision that once a configurator is available, and once you can actually convert a reservation into an order, you may or may not be eligible to order the launch edition. My guess would be that anyone with a reservation could order the launch version once the configurator is live, and...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

For those that would be towing in the Terra without the Harvester (like me), I would expect to see something in to ~8-12K range in production for the pure BEV Terra. My Gen 1 R1T Quad can tow 11,000 lbs for reference: RIVIAN Gen 1 Vehicles R1T Towing Capacity Dual-Motor AWD with Standard...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I would say Drivers eat tires more than trucks (unless they're out of alignment)... I drive my R1T around in standard ride height 98% of the time and have had no issues with uneven or accelerated tire wear. Rivians can be ripped around turns with a low center of gravity, launched at high speeds...

    Special/First Edition Scouts

Wouldn't a launch edition (or whatever Scout might cal it) be delivered to early reservation holders? I'm confused.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Right, except the interface and U/I on screen is excellent, and the Rivian also has physical buttons on the wheel, and has functions on the stalk. So much of the new tech required with EV's & charging actually works much better on a big infotainment screen, than it otherwise would with physical...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Given the more parts, multiple systems and the SW required for the Harvester configuration, I would be pretty shocked if the Harvester versions rolled off the line first. I would think the simplicity of the BEV, fewer potential supplier delays to deal with, and the fact that the SW will not need...

    Special/First Edition Scouts

Totally agree with this assessment of the Buzz, but a minvan built in Germany by VWG has nothing to do with Scout. Given Scout's independence from VWG, Scout's history as a truck (not a car or minivan), and the fact that it will be built in the USA couldn't make it any more different from the...

    Special/First Edition Scouts

No doubt... A no win situation for sure, but at the end of the day, it was the right decision for a new brand to make, even if they are still fighting to make up for lost ground. With no customers and no history, they weren't going to get away with an Elon Cybertruck "bait and switch" GTM...
