  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Questions about the Harvester

It should be faster and easier to test and make adjustments with a single system. Given the nature of any EREV, there is going to be more engineering time, more production time and more testing needed with the Harvester - its just a more complex configuration since you are layering a second...

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

Good news. Most of these newer trucks have larger infotainment screens and easily adapt to bright conditions + excellent resolution! FWIW, I put a screen protector on my infotainment screen and have zero issues with glare or polarized glasses - plus super easy cleaning. Fingerprints can be much...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

See post above ^^^^^^. Not if you take your foot all the way off the accelerator! But you can reduce the regen setting to "LOW", and you can simply apply less pressure to the accelerator (so you are not enabling regen and not sending power to the motors) IMPORTANT QUESTIONS: Which drive mode...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

My take-away from this entire discussion is that: 1. The "adjustability" aspect of regen is important. 2. The ability to turn-off or completely disable regen also seems important. The AMOUNT of regen that can be applied to enhance your stopping power is variable based on implementation by the...

Harvester - Request to allow it to charge battery while parked & a 30-40amp/240v outlet

Correct, if it isn't running, it isn't producing any electricity, its just sitting there looking pretty and twiddling its regen paddles.

Got it - I get that. Thx

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I could absolutely be in the minority but I disagree with this. I love driving one-pedal in the Rivian. I hardly ever touch the brake pedal. Took me two seconds to get used to it... Maybe I am good at it b/c I have a good understanding of how the truck works, I don't know. Everyone has a...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

That is not Rivian's approach (to be clear). You can adjust Regen settings, and take advantage of Regen settings that are "pre-set" within a specific drive mode (like Snow Mode or Tow Mode). You just don't do that on a "paddle".

    Combustion Engine

Right, that was stated. *** Except that if you only "gas and go" (no charging) after 500 miles, you will being "going" a shorter distance starting off with low SOC (before you have to get gas again) - esp if towing.

    Questions about the Harvester

Its all trade offs... And we don't know final towing specs for production yet, b/c nothing has been published. With the Harvester you are adding an entirely extra sub-system to an otherwise very simple EV truck. That takes parts, SW, HW, and extra build time (and also takes SPACE in the physical...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

Regen doesn't care if it is adjusted from a pedal, from a paddle or changed in a setting, so arguing that your life somehow depends on having your regen adjustment on a paddle when trailering downhill makes no sense - particularly if the SW offers a tow mode and regen adjustments.

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

Another way to think about this in terms of the specific need for Scout to add paddles and more HW is "how often will you be adjusting your regen settings?" Personally, I never really change my regen settings UNLESS I suddenly need less regen due to snow conditions. In that case, I just switch...

Scout Community Package, let's make this happen!

I would be all for something like this, just as long as its not called the "Scout Community Package". Would prefer something along the lines of a 1st edition or Launch edition, or similar. Something more simple and understated even. Maybe just an obscure little badge like a bonfire, that would...

    Volkswagen's Role In Engineering

Scout Engineering got a jumpstart with Magna (not VW) as they built-out the first concepts and then transitioned to in-house Engineering in Novi, MI: https://blog.scoutmotors.com/scout-motors-announces-new-innovation-center-in-michigan/ Scout Motors Inc. (“Scout Motors”), formed to craft the...

    Dynamic Power Management

Yes, when I said "room" I was alluding to the original post, which was in reference to room for 60A (capacity + breaker). I have done this on three different panels (adding a 60A circuit to support 48A current using 6AWG) without having to upgrade my service at any panel. I will say that the...

    Dynamic Power Management

Not sure where this data is coming from. Every house I have owned as had room for more breakers on the panel. We might need a sponsors page.

Harvester - Request to allow it to charge battery while parked & a 30-40amp/240v outlet

Well millions of people run cars in their garages everyday, so that is not an issue. Although I reserved the pure BEV and have no skin in the EREV game, I think it would be a swing & a miss for the Harvester NOT to work while parked - to me that would really defeat its own purpose. If you are...

Volkswagen EVs to Get Tesla Supercharger Access

*** Important to note that Rivian launched during a supply chain debacle and pandemic. It would have made zero sense for a business to deploy a broad DCFC charging network BEFORE they launched their trucks - particularly since Rivian trucks could already charge at a large number of pre-existing...

    Combustion Engine

Seriously - this charging cost FUD is a joke. When you factor in L1 and L2 charging sessions (THE MAJORITY of all charging you do with an EV), and even add in a bunch of long roadtrips with DCFC's, there is simply no comparison. EV's will always be way cheaper compared to ICE when comparing gas...

    Combustion Engine

I guess if you ask for the perspective of those that saw the advantages of an EV truck, took a risk early and bought an R1T or Lightening (for example), you probably won't find a single owner here that wants to go back to ICE - ever. Pretty compelling. Well, that would be wrong too, since I...
