  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Rivian’s R2 will 'underpin' all future Volkswagen EVs, exec says

Jamie - you beat me to it... LOL

Rivian’s R2 will 'underpin' all future Volkswagen EVs, exec says

They are talking about a SW "platform", they are also interviewing the Chief SW Officer. Tuning of mechanical things (like a suspension) can be done by SW on their platform. R2 and the Zonal architecture will allow Scout Motors to focus MORE ENERGY on the HW and their trucks, leading into...

    Longer Range battery option

Toyota went way too deep into the pockets of the Oil & Gas Lobby in Japan. Lost their edge years ago and were trampled during the growth and innovation phase of Pure EV's. They basically capitulated what could have been a big lead given the early success that they had with the Prius. They are...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

I hate truck or SUV (or whatever that is... maybe a Panamera on mud chuckers) that eliminate the box in the back by adding the sloped rear hatch... Makes not sense to me for something that is supposed to be utilitarian and eliminates so muck cargo space. That said I dig that color green. Its a...

    Trail Side Fixes?

We could point to Rivian. Of course there are going to be bumps & bugs along the road at launch (like any other new company or product) and scaling of the service side of the business will come over time, but reliability is very achievable considering the amount of EV truck development that has...

    Longer Range battery option

What "reports" are you referring to? And $3K is not happening for a MAX PACK battery by the start of production. Battery planning for production has already started, so it will take time to get through engineering, testing, QA, safety, pre-production and launch from here given timelines. Not to...

    Driver Legroom

Prototype and pre-production... Not dissimilar from what we saw the air compressor. I'm sure prod controls will be beefier

    Trail Side Fixes?

I was going to ask... Which OEM's offer trailside service as part of their roadside assistance program? Which offer it as an upgrade?

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Couldn't be happier to be 1 of 63 in the minority with the Terra pure BEV reserved! And now to see a major up-tick in take rates for the pure BEV Terra (which we did predict would happen with each passing month and as we get closer to launch). We went from 7.4% to 7.5% YTD!

    Driver Legroom

Also looks like that guy could slide his seat back quite a bit from the angle of this picture, no? I'm guessing he could slide back and there would still be solid legroom for the rear passengers, but hard to tell without cutting off the door!

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Uh, I think you need to relax a bit... They have a partnership but they are 2 entirely different trucks. This is coming from someone that owns a R1T and has a Terra reservation. The Scout is a Scout. Leveraging some of Rivian's SW & Zonal Architecture (which has been discussed at length here)...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I did not know that Rivian even made a truck with that type of handle or an electric latch!!! My R1T handles do NOT look anything like that. I wonder what vehicle that is? Does seem like a strange design, and completely unnecessary. Maybe it was added to woo more former Tesla owners, but who knows!

How would you build your Scout?

Driving for 10 hours straight anywhere (in any vehicle) sounds like my definition of hell on earth... But then I do have a hard time sitting still for any length of time let alone for 750 miles. I'm pretty happy that EV truck ownership has allowed me to be a bit more "chill" on longer road...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Not really - that is intentionally how the platform is meant to work. Just like Scout, VW will be able to build their own U/I and experience on top of R2's Zonal Architecture, which is the foundation or platform that sits underneath what you see on your screen, or how you might adjust a drive...

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

Not for off-road chops though with current battery chemistries. Everything is a trade-off, and the weight of a ginormous battery pack would de-limit off-road capabilities. Scout is dancing that line between performance on and off-road from what we can tell.

High level use case - full time camper topper

100% agree. OEM's should focus on building trucks. When the OEM's engineering team considers how 3rd parties and aftermarket companies might make accessories or integrate products (things like bars, racks, toppers, lights, etc.) its a win-win. Scout seems into that approach (more so than Rivian...

Ship abandoned off Alaska after electric cars on board catch fire

There were 3,000 cars on that ship (800 Chinese EV's). Most gas cars don't just randomly start on fire either. They don't know how it happened or how it started, but smoke was coming from the EV deck. It would be pure speculation as to whether or not it was an EV, an ICE car, an...

    Door Handles!

I'm not surprised by the responses. The Ford Lightening is basically a F-150 with a battery pack underneath it, in terms of design. That was a smart way for Ford to get a specific niche of buyers that didn't want their EV truck to look much different than it did in 1999). I know Scout is trying...

High level use case - full time camper topper

OK, maybe I need to take a step back b/c I am unsure what you are asking for? Also, I never saw Rivian announce that they were ever planning to build their own Roof Top Tent? Where did you see this? The tent you posted is on an R2 (not in production yet) and was a prototype built by iKamper (not...
