  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Instrument Cluster

This is an interesting comment because I think it highlights the fact the instrument cluster design is challenged by it’s position below the line of sight. All this means is that it has to be designed better. It would be wrong to say the instrument cluster design doesn’t matter because some...

Yes, the number must be much larger and narrower to fit the old style. As is they are hard to read. The width of the new gauge is also too wide. It should be just a bit narrower to make it easier to read.

The industry is using easily confused units for measuring battery capacities and power etc. ‘Miles per kilowatt’ makes as much sense as saying ‘miles per horsepower’. Zero sense. ‘Miles per kilowatt-hour” does make sense. But only because that’s the units of energy with which electricity is...

    Solid-State Battery

Since the Harvester is a small engine, it could not run the vehicle by itself. So there would be no point waiting for the battery to be nearly empty before firing up the engine. I think we'll find that the generator usually kicks in when the battery is little less than half way gone. If for some...

Please put extender in back and give biggest frunk possible!

Crime varies widely between CA cities. Some cities in CA, including the one I live in, are actually among the lowest crime cities in the nation. Still, I'm glad the Scout's will have a good sized frunk because it is always safer to have valuables well hidden. During the reveal, Scott made a...

    Audio system

A vehicle provides a completely different acoustical environment to what most audio companies are used to working with. It requires specialist experience. So any partner would need to have experience designing in-vehicle systems, or else it’s just a branding exercise. Apple CarPlay now supports...

Rivian and VW provided more information about there joint venture a few days ago. VW’s investment increased from 5.0B to 5.8B Software produced by the new company will first be used in the Rivian R2 https://electrek.co/2024/11/12/rivian-rivn-vw-officially-launch-new-ev-joint-venture/

    Instrument Cluster

Off road definitely needs it's own instrument cluster. Here's an idea - there should be the number of degrees the steering is turned right or left of dead straight. There's often someone outside trying to direct the driver how to steer and the communications are very imprecise. The person...

I think it would be really cool if the needle behaved with the physics of a real analog gauge. For example, when you start up the vehicle the needle could be resting way down below the gauge and then jump up into position at 0 mph. it could also have a bit of a vibration. Whimsical details like...

Porsche and Aston Martin expected to be among the first, Land Rover, Lincoln, Audi, Volvo, Honda, Nissan, Ford, Jaguar, Acura, Polestar, Infiniti, Renault are all reported to be on-board with aspects of the new CarPlay features. Scout will see how it is received before their vehicles roll off...

    Make the harvester removable.

When I’m hiking away from the vehicle to a camp site that has no road access I want to carry as little as possible and make as few trips as possible. A battery pack would suffice for my needs of running a few lights and re-charging some devices. I don’t think there’s any practical way the...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Some people present at the reveal said CarPlay was confirmed. But I’m going to keep on making the case for it until Scout show it to me.

    Instrument Cluster

As far as the new CarPlay system goes, Apple’s instrument cluster design tools are intended to allow user customization, and this was demostrated in a WWDC video. The vehicle manufacturer has very tight control over the options they expose to the user. So the available customizability options...

I think electric provides an opportunity to add new kinds of gauges. For example, I'd like to see a small needle gauge for each motor that shows a measurement of the electric current in amps, either being drawn or regenerated. So the needle straight up would mean no current is flowing. It moves...

    Instrument Cluster

In a classic gauge the numbers are much larger and have a narrow width. This is far more readable at a glance. With the new design the “needle” passes through the gauge, and I’m not sure if we saw this in a video but it looks like the needle passes over the numbers. If so, they will become...

    Instrument Cluster

I look forward to learning more. I like the idea of the retro needle gauge but I think the particular design shown is a bit weak. One obvious problem is the fact that the gauge only goes up to 100 mph when even the old gauges on the classic Scouts went up to 120. But there are more subtle...

    Instrument Cluster

What does everyone think about the instrument cluster shown in the reveal vehicles? What do you like about it? What don’t you like about it? What’s missing? How could it be improved?

    Ditch the Wheel Arch Plastic

The plastic on the reveal vehicles is so minimal, I don’t mind it all. It just looks like the edge of a thick lining inside the wheel arch. Scout suggested bigger wheels are possible and someone at the event was told 37s will be a option. My guess is that 37s might lose the plastic completely...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

The cabana is 1000 times more practical. For a solid removable top you more or less need a crane to lift it off.

    Audio system

I still think partnering with a U.S. audio company would be a good fit for Scout. Klipsch do very good car audio, and haver a modern-vintage vibe that I think is a perfect fit. see https://www.klipsch.com/news/all-new-2025-nissan-armada-to-feature-segment-exclusive-klipsch-premium-audio-system...
