  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Audio system

There’s car audio news today from Bose. They have acquired the McIntosh group. This should mean great things for automotive audio. The McIntosh CEO says "Gaining access to [Bose] expertise as a pioneer in automotive audio will also help us accelerate our presence and enable us to deliver...

I had to push start a manual with a flat battery many times. I guess those days are coming to an end with electric powertrains.

Charge port at front, passenger side

I think it’s going to go on the side where the electric breaker is. I’d just reverse into the garage if that makes it easier. It makes sense to me for the charge port to go near the sidewalk. Future infrastructure will surely have more sidewalk chargers, so I think putting it near the sidewalk...

More lift, less lift, or just right.

It doesn’t look like the Cybertruck has much articulation. The front passenger wheel came off the ground and rear driver side wheel has no traction. It would be better if the driver side front wheel lifted higher but it seems the springs are too stiff to allow it move further?

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

The base models probably have 32 in tires, spare underneath, no tire carrier, cloth seats, no Harvester, metal roof, no wood in the interior. What else?

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

The annual rate of inflation is currently at 2.6% (measured over the past 12 months Oct - Oct). The vehicles are expected to launch in 3 years or less. If the inflation rate stays constant, $46,255 dollars today costs $50,000 in 3 full years time. Responsible vehicle manufacturers look many...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

I don’t expect this assertion can be backed up with science. The environment impact of anything is challenging to calculate because there are so many different factors to track. However, I will make a simple comparison here between solar energy and gasoline. This will show that you have a...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I love the “hazard ahead” feature. This is something that should show up in the instrument cluster. That way even if your main touchscreen does not have maps showing and sound is muted for maps so you’re not getting verbal prompts interrupting what you are listening to, you can still see an...

    iOS/Android app? - Forum Suggestion

Building an app means taking on a lot of tech debt to keep it working for many years into the future. The apps features need to be really well thought out. Every feature is a huge commitment! I think the app should be kept fairly simple but have really practical functionality. I don’t want...

    iOS/Android app? - Forum Suggestion

If the remote start is exposed to the internet in any way it could all go wrong. Kia’s app was recently hacked and the security researchers that hacked it could remote start anyone’s vehicle- they just needed to know the license plate!

    Android Auto & CarPlay.

There was an interesting announcement from Rivian/VW last week. Their new joint venture is creating new software and it will first be used in the Rivian R2. I wonder if that means the R2 will get CarPlay? Their war on buttons needs to end. The massively positive reception of buttons in the...

    Android Auto & CarPlay.

Exactly! CarPlay support future-proofs the vehicle. The vehicles hardware will be set in stone when it leaves the factory. It will get old but the user will keep getting new phones that will add new features.

    Instrument Cluster

Yes. I just think there should be a geek out option. It should provide battery voltage, charge in coulombs, battery temperature, Available battery energy in kWh or MJ. Current in or out (in amps) current used or regenerated by each motor (amps or power in watts) harvester fuel in gallons...

    Instrument Cluster

This is also a feature of the new CarPlay design system. I really hope they include the option of CarPlay designed instrument clusters because they allow Scout to build feature rich gauges easily with pre-build building blocks. It’s kind of like Lego for gauge cluster design only that the...

    Instrument Cluster

I think the needle changing color would be bad for at a glance communication. It always needs to catch the eye in the same way and with the highest possible contrast. The bar of the gauge should change color as the needle passes through and have color changes for the cruise control. Apple...
