  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Whinin’ and cryin’

Waiting will allow me to finalize my decision on Harvester or no Harvester. I started BEV, then switched to Harvester, but might switch back. Also 3 years will allow me to better judge my longer term use case and improvements in charge infrastructure.

    Rallye Stripes stickers?

Given there's still just the 1 Traveler show car I doubt they resprayed it just for Rallye stripes, more than likely vinyl with some translucence.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Looks like those pictures were taken in the front parking lot of Rivian's big R&D facility in Palo Alto meaning this isn't just some random city ordering a Rivian for police duty, this is likely a working proof of concept. Big picture here is they'll likely use this to develop some kind of...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

I mentioned it in another thread but when it comes to the tire carrier I would like it to be removeable. Store the carrier/tire in the garage when not needed, throw it on when I do. Having to deal with the bulk of a carrier/wheel on the back plus having to swing it out every time I need to...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

    Fix-a-flat. I want a spare tire.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Our ID.4 is touchless. Get in car, sit down in seat, depress brake, and car turns on. For redundancy they do have a start/stop button but that's really in the event you want it on without actually sitting in the seat/etc. The only point of contention I have on it is when you're parking in a...

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

It absolutely should be! I bring that one up specifically because much of Scout management comes from Volkswagen of America just 15 minutes down the road and the hitch is not standard on Atlas, amongst other poor packaging decisions.

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

Agreed. Volkswagen's S, SE, SEL packaging is antiquated, frustrating, and quite honestly doesn't fit the space in which Scout is wanting to play. The good news is we have this from the SM website.. ..so if they put their money where their mouth is, customizable means everything is available...

VW cash flow issues affect Scout?

Yeah very interesting point, while VW is getting hammered by Chinese automakers elsewhere, in the US they can expand more freely...of course we have our own issues but still.

Scout Motors Proactive Measures to Reduce Consumers' EV Auto Insurance?

Yeah I should have put a caveat on my statement that I was just focusing on one of a thousand factors.

VW cash flow issues affect Scout?

Did it? I'm seeing that it increased overall however buried within those numbers are the increase of EVs, decrease of ICE, and decrease of Western brands like VW. Even if the market dropped, the spirit of this thread is VW's cash flow so having a nearly 10% drop regardless of reasons hurts the...

VW cash flow issues affect Scout?

I wouldn't brush aside that nearly 10% decline in Volkswagen's largest market of China. That situation is only going to get worse as time goes on.

Scout Motors Proactive Measures to Reduce Consumers' EV Auto Insurance?

I recall getting my old GTI repaired at a VW certified collision center that also happened to be the official Tesla collision. After talking to the shop at length and being shown a few cars, I learned that Tesla's were a nightmare to work on. It basically came down to the fact that designing...

    Rivian Tire Swap Function

True but honestly I think it's a moot point. Without doing any disassembly work the only VW AG label you can see on my VW powered Audi A6 (EA888 aka 2.0T engine) is on the alternator and even then you really have to look down in there to see it. Back to Scout, with all the effort they're putting...

    Rivian Tire Swap Function

Guys, most auto manufacturers also act as suppliers for other companies. Even is Scouts are delivered with VW-stamped parts it means absolutely nothing other than Scout bought that part from VW...again in a boringly normal supplier-customer relationship.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

My dad has owned two cars that had folding windshields, an Austin Healey 100M and 1945 Jeep. I can confirm driving with no windshield at any speed maybe above 20mph sucks. Definitely need something on those cars, in the very least a brooklands winscreen would help.

    Rivian Tire Swap Function

I could see this being used a lot by people who switch to a winter wheel setup.

IMO a logical step here would be to mate it to an Ioniq5 N power train. Performance, reliability, and that cool gear simulator feature. Speaking of gears, the design looks great but I just can't get myself excited driving an electric car on the twisties.

Scout Partner with Carmax for Delivery?

I do not want to go to a Carmax, especially when home delivery for cars is a thing.

Cost and Ease to Repair/Maintain the Traveler and Terra

I'd also like to confirm if Harvester equipped cars will fall under California's TZEV warranty which is 10yr/150k at least for the Harvester related items including the engine itself. The i3 REX falls under this category btw.
