  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

You can do that! Turn off displays / Activate Red interior accent lighting

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

What is the one thing you almost always have in your pocket? Your phone. Although I have all of these different keys as options, the phone is what I use most of the time: https://stories.rivian.com/unlock-your-vehicle To access a locked Rivian, you don't need to have the phone out of your pocket...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

I'm sure Scout and the YT'ers will have videos - just a matter of time... They will definitely boost confidence, and help inform buyers. I would discount the negative range reviews about the VW Buzz. It had 230 miles of range from the start, and when you go out and do a mid-winter range test...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

Can't wait to see the comparison video (that will undoubtedly be produced post launch) of taking a pure 350mi range Terra and a Harvester Terra on a 1000 mile+ road trip. That will be interesting, and results will vary based on where that test (or tests) take place, availability of DCFC...

Infrequent drivers - Charge every day?

Chaz26 has the right idea... Just leave it plugged in at whatever level you want for everyday driving (probably 50-70% SOC). There is no need to charge to 100% unless you are going on a road trip. Even if the truck is not being used, there will be some degree of loss from the original SOC over...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Start / Stop Button: Totally unnecessary in an EV truck and would serve no-purpose but to "fake" a start. Certainly you can use FOBS and cards and phones, watches and wristbands as "keys", but as soon as you have made a handshake with the vehicle using any of these, the truck is "ON". When you...

Great little piece here! CBS Saturday Morning segment. Well done Scout Team.

    Scout Sales Strategy: Territory Ambassadors

I just finally turned on the water and did my first spring cleaning & hand wash to remove gravel, dirt, grit grime, and worst of all - SALT... However, most of it was on the INSIDE of the vehicle and brought in buy boots over the winter! I've been super happy with a spray coat of CS3 from...

Volkswagen EVs to Get Tesla Supercharger Access

There's no place for violence, vandalism or destruction of property. End of statement.

    Scout Sales Strategy: Territory Ambassadors

Things get messy with $$$. So, Rivian offered RAN charger credits (FREE DCFC CHARGING) - found that out late!

Volkswagen EVs to Get Tesla Supercharger Access

Just to be clear, that isn't exactly the way the charger system works. You also need a SW "handshake between the vehicle and the charger (not just an adapter). So, if there is no agreement between the OEM and the charging Network, the adapter won't work.

    Scout Sales Strategy: Territory Ambassadors

I was an early adopter with the R1T. Believe me - no stickers are needed - you just had to drive it and it would turn heads. The SCOUT will be the same... Parking in the R1T was non-stop conversations at first, since lots of people didn't even know what Rivian was. Lots of people were shocked...

Volkswagen EVs to Get Tesla Supercharger Access

I charged at a Tesla SuperCharger in NH over the weekend. It was wild!!!... There was indeed a huge protest being staged in the parking lot (right at the supercharger site), but it was peaceful, and by no means were they trying to turn anyone away. Ironically, I was one of 2 Rivian R1T's...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Just anecdotally, and now that I have had my R1T for just about 3 years, I would have a very hard time going back to gas (even with just under 300 miles of range on 20's and AT's). The improvements in SW, OTA's, charging infrastructure, the Rivian RAN DCFC Network and access to Tesla...

VW cash flow issues affect Scout?

Will be interesting to see Tesla's results again this quarter... Not a bad thing to have consumer choice when it comes to EV's, and more specifically EV trucks! LFG.

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I had paddle shifters in a V6 Audi sportback with Quattro when I was younger. When driving around in a "sporting" mood, they were fun for that sort of stuff. In a large, heavy truck like the R1T (and based driving lots of other trucks), paddles shifters are a lot less appealing, but maybe I'm...

    Driving Distance Poll

Correct, not every Supercharger site is available to non-Teslas. We are seeing more and more gas stations with DCFC's, and certainly the bigger players in the C-Store space have been ahead of the curve compared to the big gas station brands. The ones that want to sell food (the WaWa's, the...

    Battery Capacity Options

Rivian utilizes only the 2 front motors in " Conserve mode" - which is excellent on long drives. As far as tire wear, people do dumb things in EV's as was pointed out above, then they expect their tires to be pristine. In the case of Rivian, and in addition to launching, one of those dumb...

    Driving Distance Poll

This is not true. With a NACS adapter (which Rivian provided to me for free to charge at select Tesla Superchargers) I can go to other Supercharger sites (not just the magic dock sites). The only thing the magic dock sites do is eliminate the need for the adapter. The magic dock is the adapter...

    Driving Distance Poll

I do either a ~360 mile roundtrip on weekends in the winter, or a ~180 mile round trip on weekends in the summer. I also travel to lacrosse tournaments all over the NE for my kids. Longest tournament distance ~850 miles round trip to Annapolis. All done in a 2022 first generation launch edition...
