  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

Honestly, I was a little suspect of your original post - you came on so strong with this open source angle, and I'm not aware of any US OEM that leverages Open Source for their autonomous systems, but correct me if I am wrong. Your post above makes me more suspect of your motivations. I had...

    Double charge ports

The only thing not to like about it is 2X the cost, more wiring and additional weight. #tradeoffs

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

    Snow is an excellent insulator

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

I posted this back in January: https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/do-you-want-your-scout-to-have-a-hands-free-driving-system.1594/post-20615 Scout's plans seem perfectly reasonable to me. The only time I really take advantage of my Driver+ System in my Gen1 Rivian is on longer HWY...

Whose coming to Scout from an EV Truck?

Good catch! For some reason I couldn't edit the spelling though. Argh

Whose coming to Scout from an EV Truck?

Quick poll of EV Truck ownership to see who has placed a reservation on a Scout Terra. Feel free to add top 3 reasons why you're reserving a Scout. For me, those reasons are: 1. Size: Looking forward to a slightly bigger bed and cabin 2. Features: I like that the Terra will have a retractable...

How do you plan to kit out your interior?

Minimalist... No real clutter, nothing attached to windshield or vents. No obstructions line of sight. Everything I need (tools, adapters, gear) fits in a small storage place or compartment in the truck. Plus co-pilot for dump runs

New Scout Motors Video: Driven By Community - Jackson Family Story

Well done! Great story and great video - with a bit of a River Runs Through It mixed in. The only thing that confused me was where the hell those fly rods went inside the cab for the drive to the river! Jason should be proud.

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

Yes, 100% true on a normal road trip. I don't think you need to find a DCFC for any overnights though, since L2's would charge batteries on both the BEV and the Harvester fully, and they are available at many hotels. My post was in response to the OP who stated, "go as far as you can" - of...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

I think about this a bit differently (in terms of the Harvester,) since the deadweight is the battery that is getting charged by the Harvester, and the smaller engine is charging the battery, which is then powering the motors (a smaller engine is not driving you around). Since the power to...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

I pass through NJ multiple times each summer and spend a great deal of time on the I-95 corridor between Maine and DC. Name calling is unnecessary, and stating simple truths and facts is not being a snobby EV owner - its setting the record straight for everyone else reading along. I've been here...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

This is common. Your logic is flawed, b/c when you own an EV you charge at home or work most of the time. Do you have a gas pump in your garage? You don't need to have as many DCFC stations for that reason and b/c infrastructure growth is on a curve with EV adoption. Will there being growing...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

This is not a Zero Sum game. There is a MASSIVE benefit of not having to go to a gas station (or charge at a DDCFC station). Most EV owners plug in at home, and they are perfectly willing to exchange some charge time at a DCFC (when on a road trip) for all of the added benefits & time savings...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

You stated "there were zero to none". Just stating the FACTS. There are literally dozens of Superchargers and that Applegreen site is smack dab in the MEDIAN between the N and Southbound lanes of the Turnpike in the rest area. Couldn't be in a better spot actually. I didn't even need to charge...

What is More Important? - EV Charge Time or EV Range

That's strange. I charged at a DCFC on the NJ Turnpike last summer on my way to DE and MD. Literally in one of the rest stops ON the Turnpike, not to mention the Tesla Superchargers on the Turnpike. APPLGREEN DCFC Location: Walt Whitman Travel Plaza, NJ Turnpike Southbound, Mile Marker 30...
