  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

My Audi can do 500mi to a tank which I love, not because I'm constantly doing cross country road trips, but because it means I can do a 5 day a week commute and stuff on the weekends without having to worry about filling up, or rather filling up becomes less of a hassle because the margin is so...

It's all about talent. Over the last 20 years Hyundai has been poaching key people from the German auto manufacturers and it shows. Check out the previous roles of some current and recently retired Hyundai executives (you can assume what they do now at Hyundai)... Albert Biermann: Former boss...

So interestingly the Santa Fe Hybrid has risen to the top of our ID.4 replacement list. I've driven a couple now and they're surprisingly nice. Good looks on the outside although the rear is funky but was done to maximize cargo space/door opening so I appreciate that. Interior has a premium feel...

No need to say it because I'm sure we're all thinking it.🍻

Yeah it happens with the legacy manufacturers on all sorts of things but this one just hits different for me because not only is it blindingly obvious, but also the fact it passed through a handful of QC checkpoints with nobody noticing. The only explanation I have is courtesy of the Dodge...

Honestly this whole thing made me think of my Porsche 356. Back in the 60's Porsche was a small and scrappy company with everything made by hand. The paint was also mixed by hand which meant you could literally have a line of cars painted in Signal Red, for example, and each one could look...

Eh, 400mi+ of range is already being achieved in other markets by many vehicles and the BMW iX3 can do 434mi for example. The problem I have with Lucid, and I see a fair number of them here in Silicon Valley, is they're really really boring to look at. Gravity is an utter snooze jelly bean even...

Depends on the segment. Full size that's a hard no however I see potential for smaller trucks where foreign brands have had good success. Keep in mind the VW Amarok, the vehicle they'd bring, is based on the Ranger and is built at a Ford factory in South Africa so it's theoretically just as...

That's a good point. PG&E does have those plans and we did look into them a couple years ago but they didn't pencil out for our situation however might be worth revisiting that math now that our charge patterns have changed.

Not news per-se, but we fast charged at an Electrify America at like 10AM earlier this week and the "congestion" rate, even though nobody else was there charging, was $.68 a kWh. Just to put that in perspective, at $5.50/gal of regular (SF Bay Area so yeah its expensive), this is like filling up...

If I saw this car on the street I'd assume it was in an accident and repaired poorly by a body shop who didn't match or blend the paint of the front panel.

Found the thread. This pic better shows the discrepancy. The joys of having an early production example of a 100% brand new vehicle.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Based on the videos/interviews I've seen, it's not RPM levels being the variable but instead battery level (say keep it at 80%). Outside of that you can of course choose to keep it on full time or off full time.

Or expiring tax credits pulled forward a lot of sales that would have happened later, we're now past that gap plus a short term bump due to gas prices.

Just to be clear, you guys are aware Rivian is launching the $45K R2 right? Or is the argument about them holding back on base models until much later? That one I can understand and agree with. IMO it's been hugely beneficial for Scout to enter the market slightly later allowing them time to...

Yup but it should be expected. Not everyone can time their next car purchase to Rivian's schedule. People are already in leases, maybe they already made a recent purchase while waiting for R2, etc. Remember this is a reservation list of people like me who have been waiting for 2+ years for this...
