  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Single Touch Window Controls

I've owned several Land Rovers, and in recent years since 2009, at least six VWs and an Audi Q7. Got to say, the fit and finish on the Touareg Luxes I've owned is actually better than the Q7 I had in the Prestige trim. All of them have really excellent, practical and thoughtful design. I hope...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Of course, but I’m not really talking about performance as much as the stated design intent. Too many posts in this forum seem to be thinking they’re buying a hybrid drivetrain. Scout Harvester is NOT a hybrid. SM seems to not be considering such an offering, and they should be focused down...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Man, Scout Motors is going to have to do a MUCH BETTER job of explaining Harvester. Every third post is someone talking about “how much performance they’ll be getting from the engine.” It’s a mess.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Tesla owner here. Second car is a 625 mile per fill VW V6 TDI Touareg. 150 miles battery only is too little. 350 (or 297 actual, LOL) is fine. Harvester will be constantly running with such a low battery only range. For people who drive hybrids, this may feel acceptable. As a happy BEV...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Keeping options open to jump to battery only Traveler if the development of Harvester means a generator is going to be running constantly. Would prefer a 400 mile battery only, to be honest.

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

VW Group did this on Atlas for that Launch Edition, with basically one trim. I’d JUST had to surrender my Touareg (and a Passat) due to Dieselgate, as Atlas was about to drop, and was REALLY bummed about the lack of Lux or Executive equivalent trims. BIG things were left off, like no option...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Have owned a Tesla for four years in NC, and have used Superchargers perhaps eight times. Level 2 is installed in our garage on two-pole 30A breaker for 50A (max) charging. Have never come across a fully offline Supercharger site, but maybe saw one charger out of eight down one time. They...

    Single Touch Window Controls

My 2012 and 2015 Touaregs do this. Each switch on a long press / pull will lower or raise the corresponding window fully.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

We bought our Tesla Destination Charger for under $500 and paid an EC $250 to install it on a two-pole 30A breaker with conduit back to our 200A main panel. Tesla’s Level 2 charger is outdoor-rated for wet location use.

Would you be more inclined to purchase if...

Yeah, I don’t know about any of that. I’ve driven off road from Alberta to Guatemala. In Land Rovers. That image in my avatar is me at the border of Honduras. Some of us will go beyond gravel driveways. #MakeLifeAnAdventure #B2B74

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Well, let's hope 150 is also not wildly optimistic. Our true range in our Tesla 3 was within about 15% at 70mph + highway speeds. So, 297.5 range (Scout Traveler, battery only) would be not shabby. As long as destination chargers await you at your longer stops, or you are friends with the...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

It's where my mind is now, and perhaps they'll eek 400 miles out of the battery-only option by the time production models are moving. I assume Scout will happily change my reservation type!

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

We toyed with this for our Border to Border Expedition Land Rovers. It would be great to potentially integrate such into the (replaceable) rallye graphics, with clear or paint-match options that extend protection down the length of the panels. With a truck this wide, you're guaranteed to pick...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Not sure if @Jamie@ScoutMotors can clarify the design intent of Harvester here (likely again, ha!). I see many posts in the forum already where members are thinking that Harvester generator (gas inverter?) is driving the vehicle. My understanding is that the vehicle is 100% driven only via its...

What are you driving until release?

Don’t want to clutter Scout, LOL. I’ve been eyeing their lift for a while, but will likely leave Pudge stock with Traveler being its replacement.

Offer it with a gas motor

As with our (not on fire) Tesla, I’ll point to the 175,000 gas and diesel fires on USA roads every year, and the < 250 Tesla fires EVER as I think about my car charging Level 2 in the garage below.

What are you driving until release?

Ah, I couldn’t remember if the 09 was still the V10. Love my 2015 TDI Lux. I’d love to see Scout partner with Eurowise. Just an hour or so up the road!

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Tesla owner with Level 2 (two-pole 30 / 50A) charging. I’m a little concerned at the stated 150 battery only range with the Harvester option. I DO NOT want a gas engine, but see Harvester as a boon for those times where a destination charger (Level 2) or supercharger are not available, or...

What are you driving until release?

You have any Eurowise on your V10? In another thread I endorsed that Scout Motors should strongly consider an approved accessory supplier program, for companies like Eurowise, who already manufacture for Audi VW Porsche. They could license and have engineering review of such aftermarket...
