  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

[Traveler] Trim that maximizes range and utility

Sure let me call my VW dealer right away

[Traveler] Trim that maximizes range and utility

Already have a second vehicle but traveling together is more fun :)

[Traveler] Trim that maximizes range and utility

Well then there's hope! :) One of our vehicles is an overlanding truck with a popup camper (reserved Terra to replace it). The other one has to have a third row. Currently driving a Land Cruiser, Traveler with a third row would fit the bill perfectly. I guess I'll hold on to my Traveler...

[Traveler] Trim that maximizes range and utility

Well I hear you mate. But this is for the occasional day when you have friends or family visiting and you need to accommodate a couple more persons in the car. Doesn't have to be spacious. Considering that VW fits a third row into a Tiguan (which once made the difference between renting one vs...

[Terra] Rear bumper with integrated tire carrier

I read under bed for 33" tires, in bed for 35"

[Traveler] Trim that maximizes range and utility

Larger model? Weird - Traveler is already at 208" and a 7" longer than R1S.

Little flick on the back of the pick up bed?

    Aha! Thanks!

[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

Would love to have an option for a slightly longer (6.5') bed with a slightly shorter (double) cab. We don't need a lounge in the back seat. When they are occupied, they would mostly be occupied by kids. So a double cab would be a perfect fit. On the other hand, having a slightly longer bed...

    Short wheelbase Truck Please!?

Or a double cab with a 6.5" bed! (as in the older Tundras)

    [Traveler] Fold flat seats

Would love to have the rear seats (and third row seats that will hopefully be offered as an option) folded flat so we can comfortably put sleeping pads / a mattress for the occasional sleep in / overlanding.

Little flick on the back of the pick up bed?

What is he talking about (18:54)?

[Terra] Rear bumper with integrated tire carrier

Having 35" tires is great but we wouldn't want to lose any space in the bed where we would have the camper shell. Would like to have an option for a rear bumper with a swing out tire carrier. This also plays well with asymmetrical barn doors you would find at some camper shells.

[Traveler] Trim that maximizes range and utility

Basically a mall crawler. And that is coming from someone who drives a Land Cruiser. We love off-roading. Have two reservations: one Terra and one Traveler. Terra is for off-road. I would like to have the Traveler to have a trim that excels in the city. Mall crawlers / pure city drivers are a...

[Terra] Heat ducts in the bed

For those who would have a camper shell in the bed, having a couple heat ducts would be revolutionary. We would be able to take advantage of the EV battery (a heat pump is also a big big plus) to heat up the camper and no longer have to install a propane or diesel heater. Would also save a lot...

Option to delete the glass / cabana roof

The option to delete the fancy roof options and just have a regular hard top roof (and also save some money). Full glass roofs are a liability off-road. There are tons of Rivian incidents with a cracked glass roof. Those things are expensive to replace. With a camper shell, half of the roof is...

    Camper Shell

Also for those who are planning to have a camper shell, optional heat ducts in the bed (to take advantage of the car's battery) would be game changer. This would eliminate the need for a propane or diesel heater and save much appreciated space in the camper.

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

For the Traveler, you need to gain the city crowd. That is those who will never/rarely go off-roading. That would entail having a trim with road / all season tires, and a rear wheel drive trim that maximizes the EV range. And a third row for the Traveler! The car is bigger than R1S definitely...

    Third row seating

Exactly! The only reason that's holding me back from the SUV and look into R1S's direction.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I'm interested in learning this as well. What are the conditions that we can go on without charging but with a fuel up?
