  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Lexus RZ chronicals-by my wife

I deliberately don't pay attention to the remaining range estimate. I can do the current efficiency math with % remaining to get an estimate of remaining range better than the vehicles. They're too conservative.

I have no idea what that means.

And one huge difference is that arriving home with 0% charge is totally fine. Arriving home with an empty tank is totally not fine.

Range anxiety? What’s that? Got home late one night with the Mustang. Didn’t want to make the one final stop that would have ensured I got home with 10% remaining. I did slow down for the last few miles before my gravel road so I was only going 57 in a 55. ;) Stopping at a charge station...

I’d love an electric Miata or MG B, but I don’t actually fit in them, so I’ll stick with an electric Mustang.

I get 2.3-2.5 miles/kWh on most road trip days (without towing). My average speed is around 65 mph, but I set my highway cruise control to 72 mph. Average speed is ~65 mph because I have a 2.5 mile gravel road and then several miles before getting to the freeway, then an on-ramp, off-ramp, and...

No. I have a cheap Chinese powerstation. Oukitel, I think is the name. It’s the same battery and same inverter as a lot of the bigger name brands, but it’s significantly cheaper. The biggest issue with it is that it doesn’t provide 240 Volt, 30 Amp output (few do, and the ones that do are...

I’m not sure if this is a typo or something else is going on… A time of 8-10 hours of charging even on L1 should be charging much more than 13 miles of range, especially since she’s getting 4.2 miles/kWh. She should be getting 4.2 miles/kWh * 10 hours * 1.2 kW = ~50 miles.

    Generator + Solar integration

You don’t put solar on your truck to gain long distance driving range while driving. You also typically can’t use just solar to directly charge your truck unless you have panels that run at just above the HVB voltage. There are few panels with their cells wired in such a manner. Typically...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Okay, some stats: Just finished towing a 50 foot by 24 foot greenhouse (dismantled) and a couple of water cubes 840 miles round trip from the Victor Valley, CA to Northern AZ. Towing was fine. Took my time (65 mph) and never worried about being able to charge across the literal desert and...

EV Backup for Home with Solar Integration

I've been happy with using the 240 V, 30 Amp output from the Lightning's power outlets in the bed to charge the whole home battery on my solar system. This frees my truck from having to be connected to the house when the grid goes down and I can go find a DCFC if necessary while the grid is...

I don't think we know at this point how easy it will be to remove the swing arm. From statements made by Jamie, it won't be as simple as pulling a pin and lifting. It will be removable in the same sense that everything on the truck that isn't welded on is removable. We just don't know which end...

It's a valid concern. A jogging stroller, for example, won't fit in the frunk. A wheelchair won't fit in the frunk. Hockey sticks, bicycles, lumber... Lots of things that are needed in daily life won't fit in the frunk. Unless the carrier is entirely optional, separate from all trims, options...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

This is the load on the way home. The trailer itself is about 5-6k pounds. The extra sails are now really wiping out my efficiency. Still no actual issues, just slower driving and lower efficiency.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

The price at this station is now $10/gallon. Same $0.42/kWh.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

On a trailering adventure. So far, I've charged at EA, EVGo, RAN, and brand-T. They've all been fine charging. Glad my truck has the front port.

Scout Concepts in Scottsdale, Arizona, April 25, 2026

In that case, we would likely get a second set of wheels and 31" tires for road trips and most driving. We would only put the 33s on when driving in snow. I'll be replacing our 33s on the Lightning with 31s when it's time.

After a few days away from the Scouts and with additional time to think about things, we’d love to see the Traveler on 30” or 31" tires with stock height. The (to us) silly-looking tonka wheels and tires and “lift" made it feel much larger than it probably will be with sensible shoes. We do a...

This is my experience. That said, we're certainly not extreme mileage drivers (we have only about 90k on two BEVs combined over four years of ownership of one BEV and two years of all BEV ownership).
