  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Torn

We have very rarely needed the 320 miles range in my Lightning, even while towing. We have a little over 93,000 miles combined on our two BEVs, more than half of that from road tripping over a hundred road trips (requiring an overnight stay away from home). We live and road trip in one of the...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

It’s one of the reasons we stopped running with anyone and we just do it on our own these days. Our leave-no-trace ethics didn’t sit well with them and they weren’t learning from our efforts.. :( Of course, we were also one of the few in those days who never needed to make trail repairs...

While I agree that tire spin is a problem, I disagree with your conclusion that Rivian’s tire spin is anywhere near as problematic as leaking engines, transmissions, radiators, and other issues I regularly saw on the trail back in my off-roading days. And I’ve rarely seen an off-roader take...

    Bench or Bucket Seating Poll

I have no interest in a bench seat unless it also comes with a fold-down center console that doesn’t spill with it’s flipped up. I don’t remember anything suggesting the rear seat will come as individual seats.

Scout Concepts in Seattle, Washington, May 9, 2026

Yes, I was typing too fast. Assuming that there’s no lift required to fit the 35s, which I believe Jamie has stated that the Scouts should accommodate the 35s without a lift.

Scout Concepts in Seattle, Washington, May 9, 2026

The official height of the traveler (with the 33” tires) is 76.3", including the antenna. That’s without the rack/top hat. Add on 35” tires, and you’re at 78.3" 77.3”. Again, without the top hat. For comparison, the stock 4 Runner TRD Pro with 33” tires is 74 inches tall...

We looked. I like the Ioniq 5 a lot. But, sadly, it’s still fairly low. It only beats our Mustang by about an inch more clearance.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I don’t find YT influencers to be terribly helpful for real world anything. That said, a friend of mine here in our mountain town has a 2026 Rivian R1S and they probably won’t keep it when the lease is up. They love so many things about it, but the service center is more than two hours one-way...

    What buyer type are you

Only two. I don’t really know what “authentic” means here, but I do appreciate unique vehicles. And interesting vehicles. And EVs are the most interesting thing left in the automotive world, IMO.

    What buyer type are you

I am more than two of those options.

No reason they're ruled out except we're looking for a higher-sitting SUV, and the Ioniq 9 doesn't gain us much more than the Mustang already has.

Nio swapped one million EV batteries in a week. It takes less than five minutes to swap. You can choose a larger battery for when you're towing or going on a long trip. Will we ever see that here? https://insideevs.com/news/795220/nio-battery-swap-million-cars/

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

I almost test drove a Silverado, but then decided I was too tired to interact with another dealership this week. Maybe next week. Sadly there aren’t very many BEVs for sale here. And several are just not interesting to me. Maybe I will test the Kia EV9 again with a thought to a similar review...

I am also a fan of the conservationist ethos Dr. Scaringe brings to Rivian. I see some of that in Scout, but it's a little more hidden, IMO. The messaging seems more about getting into nature than necessarily preserving for future access and everyone's enjoyment. I understand they may be a bit...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

I’m not enamored of any particular brand. I think the engineering in the Scouts is likely to be cool and interesting. I think the engineering of the Rivians is also cool and interesting. I really like the Ford BEVs that we own, but the brand lost me when they failed to follow through and...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

I tow junk and regularly (not daily) drive over 800 miles. I still wouldn’t put in a reservation for an EREV.

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

I consider the R1T with 11k pound towing and similar capabilities to the Lightning to be full-size. Its bed is small, but everything else is competitive. Ford doesn’t have a mid-sized BEV truck. It doesn’t even have conceptual drawings yet. The Silverado and Sierra EV refresh has been...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

This is how I’m choosing to interpret the “EREV first” statements from Scout: They’re trying to make sure they don’t lose the customers who are very likely looking at the Ford and RAM concept EREV pickups and SUVs. In fact, they’re going to be competing against a lot of vehicles: there are 16...

Design it to last 20 years

Yep. The owner of a BEV doesn’t need to do any maintenance on the batteries themselves. All modern BEVs have active thermal management. The owner probably shouldn’t let the battery sit for too long at too high of a charge, but also shouldn’t stress about it. Most BEVs have a 100,000 to 200,000...

Sadly, the nearest RZ is two hours one-way from me. We don’t have a Lexus dealer in town. While we took the opportunity to test the Rivian and the Lucid, we were there for a different purpose.
