  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    300 miles instead of 350?

Possibly a typo - or could be the first indication that there will be a standard and long range model. Up to 350 miles could mean ideal conditions, or could mean options up to 350 miles. Waiting for Jamie.

2026 Lightship vs Pebble Flow All Electric Trailers

At current weight density - it would be hard to put in 100kwh AND keep a trailer under 5k lbs.

January 2026 Scout Production Center Update

I am ok with a standard range model at 300 miles - especially if a long range model above 350 is offered as a reasonably priced upgrade. But honestly would prefer the standard range to be starting at 350.

2026 Lightship vs Pebble Flow All Electric Trailers

You really don't want to tow over 500lbs of bumper weight with a 1/2 ton truck - the suspension is not designed for it (and honestly, the frame might not be either - my father bent a frame towing less than 2k lbs with the help of a pothole). Even with my 3/4 ton, I don't do it. Plus, I think...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Very wide is subjective. I have driven full sized pickups for the last 30 years - as it stands, the Scout is no wider than that. Plus it is narrower than many of the performance variants and I think the Cybertruck - none of which I have much experience with. The widest I deal with is the...

January 2026 Scout Production Center Update

Hoping it is a mistake. I recalled the VW Buzz range progressively dropping too though-till I stopped paying attention because I had no interest left. The problem with a 250 mile range is I can not drive to any nearby city without needing to recharge to get home. A published 300 mile range...

    Retrofitting a winch

Putting a winch on a modern vehicle mostly depends on replacing the bumper. Amp draw might dictate if a second battery is necessary - but generally is not all that necessary. You run the engine while cranking the winch. If the alternator can keep up, most batteries have the power to deal with...

    Tdi

Love my TDI - but I don't think VW group will ever ship another to the US.

    Off-topic stuff…

I turned on the AC this morning - life in S. Texas. House got hot yesterday and did not dip last night (and honestly, it was because the AC system needed to circulate air, probably only my west facing bedroom was hot as we are holding at about 70 now). Temps should start dropping tonight - but...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Currently down to 4 dogs (the peak dog count was bad, real bad-5 dogs, 2 fosters, and a litter of puppies). A geriatric Shelty, an old overweight lab. Both those to have to be lifted into vehicles. Then 2 middle aged labs that are not overweight (but still 70ish lbs) - one of which can climb...

I kind of want to laugh at some of these lawsuits. Can a VW dealer sue to sell a Porshe?

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

I agree that 200 miles is not local - and honestly it is a 2 day commitment, for 2 people. 200 miles is more than 3hrs one way, then the drive home (and repeat once the repair is done) - but you better have a chase vehicle to drive you home (or pay for a rental I guess, I am spoiled with backup...

    Vehicle Visualizer/Configurator Tool

I think the biggest problem with delaying a release is moving goal posts. When announced, nothing really compared to what Scout was presenting. If the Scout is released on schedule, it will probably still be in that leadership position. But since its announcements, other companies are...

From a Tesla and Lightning Owner: Here’s What I Need to See from Scout

Just a clarification on my kamikaze deer - I was doing less than 10mph, and it hit me in the driver side door, rolled and hit the rear driver side door. Damage is completely cosmetic - but I forget if it managed to dint both quarter panels in addition to both driver side doors. I think my...

Using an EV for backup power in case of power outage

Not that Scout is doing it - but have seen some videos on home DC V2G (and a bit of V2H) systems. While I am sure there are plenty of issues, it gets around any vehicle charger limitations. While it has limited value to most people when charging, as AC charging can still charge the vehicle...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I can agree with a lot of what the prior poster has expressed. There are a couple other things that come to mind. How will Scout deal with initial market adjustments? They will only be able to fulfill reservations at certain rates. In a free market, the market will find ways to allow...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Well, I guess a headreast might be necessary on some rare occasion - but my dogs will not really care as long as they a wider seat and can nuzzle closer to me.

    Battery and Motor

Been following this for several weeks. So far, all anyone really knows is that Donut Lab's has produced a battery case - that per their unverified claims will have a "battery" with some specific characteristics in it shortly. People are associating those characteristics with solid state...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

What was the range on that $60k Lightning? Was that the $40k Lightning they promised us selling at $60k. Or was that the $60k Lightning that the dealers were asking $100k for and nobody gave a second chance to because they did not think Ford removed that disastrous initial market adjustment...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Forcasts are all to often alarmist, but as of today, 80+% chance of rain this weekend (we really need it, no rain in well over a month, and then almost 3 months before that) - and a low in the teens. They think that mythical white stuff might fall in Texas. Mythical white stuff is far more...
