  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Bench or Bucket Seating Poll

6 Passenger for sure. The extra flexibility is super helpful. My parents have had a 6 passenger truck since I was in high school, and we use that extra seat all the time, and I don't personally see any downsides to the bench (with the flip down console) vs just the normal console and 2 chairs up...

These measurements seem reasonable to me. As I mentioned, I'm 6'1" without shoes, and the roof of the Traveler with 35's was about even with the top of my head (hard to tell because I couldn't stand exactly next to it). And an antenna wasn't visible, but I could see that adding a few inches. The...

A good way of putting it. I do think that if you (the "royal you", the one reading this) have the old scouts in mind as the example of the size, you'll think they're big. But if you go in thinking "short Tahoe", I think you'll be thinking they're smaller than you thought IMO. So it does depend...

Wrapping things up after a long day here (soccer games, the scout thing, mountain biking with the family, ice cream with the kids, etc. Good day, but long :P). First time seeing the Scouts in person, and first time to that venue (and honestly, one of the only times I've been into Seattle area...

I thought it had been confirmed here multiple times in the past, that for the BEV version, the default spare tire was under the rear floor, where the harvester generator/engine would be in the harvester model, and that it would only fit the standard ~33in size tire. While the external carrier...

I’ll give more feedback later. At the second soccer game right now. It was pretty crowded, and hard to get much time with it in the “front row”. And even in the short time there, I heard a lot of confusion, even among the scout reps (saying the traveler wouldn’t have a spare tire underneath...

They were giving out coffee mugs. Apparently they brought 500 for reservation holders, but more like 2000 showed up. They were gone by the time we got there around 12:30. Jamie wasn’t here for this one, but got to chat briefly with Mike. Was only there for 30-45min, and had to jet for the...

This is great. I’m a bit concerned to hear you talk about the size. I’m actually hoping for something pretty good size. Part of the reason I want a bench seat is because i was thinking full size pickup truck width, plus the internal storage in the rear. I may be seeing them tomorrow, and...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

FWIW, The Ioniq 9 has 6.9 in of ground clearance. More than the Ioniq 5 iirc, but still not really “high clearance”. The EV9 is more, around 8inches iirc. But the interior of the EV9 is a major step down imo. Less comfortable, less intelligent space utilization, and smaller enough to notice...

Work has been busy lately, and so has life. But talking with the family today, either another buddy and I will be trying to attend, or my wife and two kids and I will be showing up between soccer games. So if you see two kids running around in soccer gear with a weird dad explaining stuff to...

    The Start/Stop Button

Work has been busy lately (on call for work), so I missed this thread to start, and for once haven’t read through everything. But put me on team “I want a button”. And yes, I have an EV (and a PHEV, and a 30yr old gas vehicle).

Its worth noting, that in China, Megawatt or higher charging is not just restricted to commercial vehicles. There are already over 5,000stations, with plans to hit 20,000 stations before EOY. The plan is also to have it begin rolling out in Europe this year...

Scared me for a second there o_O. I'd never heard of rate tariffs. Just took a look. Flat rate all the time, no Tariffs. Whew! But thanks for the heads up. Electricity billing seems to vary a lot around the country. So everyone should be aware of that they're walking into, good callout...

What does RSVP’ing do for the events that are open to the public? Are they not just walk in events?

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Hmmm. Thats a Saturday? Those are tricky right now with two kids in Soccer, as that is game day. And only a 4hr window too. I'm not that far away (I mean, not relative to everyone else who has gone to events). Its just the logistics of the day (I'm helping coach one of the kids teams again...

    Off-topic stuff…

I always find its best to mix my units for best results! I also like when I work on cars that have roots in different origins (like my previous Mazda... that was built with a Ford Engine, or my Jeep that is part AMC... part Daimler). What can I say, I like having to play "is that a metric nut...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I believe so? I haven't had to do that yet, as they don't really have time of use here (its in testing... but very not worth it yet. Its like 2-3x more expensive during peak, and $0.01 less during off peak (yes, one penny cheaper). It lets you put in your electricity rates, or even lookup your...

If you have low electricity rates at home, you really can save a lot of money vs a 15-20mpg SUV. You saw above how if I charged at home 100% of the time (which has been true so far), it will cost me about $550 a year. A 20mpg SUV with my current gas prices ($5.50/gal), would be $4125 a year...

Here are a few examples from the emporia charger I have. You can see it in a report for the month. You can see the days of the week we charged, and how much that cost us. You can check historical usage (you can actually do this down the minute, or out to all time) You can change the units...
