  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I have one pair of Filson work pants that are essentially made of burlap (like Carharts). They are indestructible but also the most gawd awful pants in terms of comfort... I also own a Filson Jackshirt that is stained and ruined from doing improper things in it. I like Filson (the brand) but...

Its funny, b/c Rivian got associated with Patagonia - which makes sense. They are a company with a very direct ethos around the environment and conservation. They stand behind their products. They are 100% ethical when it comes to labor. They re-use their products and protect the landfills. They...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Right, well it depends on how all the systems are originally configured and connected to the SW that can control them. It also requires more expense, and requires more $$$ if something goes sideways... Point being that I would not expect Scout to deploy all of the same functionality straight out...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Yes, I updated my R1T with this SW release this week (SW version 2026.15.0). To put this in context for future Scout owners, and I know I have said this before regarding Rivian's OTA's, but this is another example of updates actually helping to make this truck better over time. OTA's with new...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Yes, this is one of the reasons why the Rivian Assistant AI update is really cool. All of this can be done hands-free. I just tried it to see how it works and asked Rivian to find my the closest charger with walking distance food options. It located a Flo fast charger in my town center (which is...

Why I'm Cancelling My R2 Reservation

I would say Rivian has a lot to do with Scout. In addition to the above, Scout and Rivian also have a JV - this will have direct implications for Scout. They are also essentially in "coopetition" for an overlapping subset of each other's target audience (simply by being an EV truck company).

I never do that, but that would stink! I immediately washed the rubber mat - that was a one-time deal just for fun one day, about 60K miles ago!

When I read your list, it feels like Scout will either have these things standard, OR they should be provided by a 3rd party and not by Scout. So, I think the Terra will be perfect. Scout has also indicated that they will work with 3rd parties to help with accessories and those things that Scout...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

So good news - Most EV Chargers are intentionally located with the understanding that people will be more likely to use them IF there are amenities nearby. This is very true with Rivian's RAN charger locations, but I also find it to be true with EA, Tesla and many others. Also, when route...

I'm also biased. Toyota has had a long list of "issues". They ceded any and all advantage that they could have had in the EV truck market domestically in the US directly to Rivian (and will do the same to Scout). I'm actually really happy about that. Very nice to be able to buy quality...

Smart move for Rivian. Makes them more $$$.

I mean, maybe this just isn't selling well? It looks like it is crying tears of pain. LOL.

    R2 Launch Watch

I think the primary function is glare reduction, less fingerprints and easy cleaning. I got one from T-Wraps out of the gate and it has been great (and less expensive): https://twraps.com/

Sorry, Toyota never ceases to underwhelm me. A "rav4" truck? I mean that sounds like a recipe for a fire sale on President's Day.

    R2 Launch Watch

    3. I may be mistaken, but at R1 Launch, option #3 was called "Ocean Coast" and was lighter than Lunar Rock. I believe it was also the 3rd trim that they fulfilled in terms of reservation configs. I was not interested in any light interior options based on my use of the truck doing truck...

    R2 Launch Watch

I would tend to compare the launch of Scout with the launch of R1. Keep in mind that for Rivian, R2 represents a more mass market variant that is purposefully going to drive volume, and address a larger market at the entry price point. Rivian benefits by keeping production simple b/c they can...

You can judge a Scout by its color

This is the future. Towns and Municipalities (the smart ones) have ZERO reason not to switch to electric also. Town and city fleets also don't require massive range. They will have a huge opportunity to cut costs buying "base range" EV's, eliminating gas purchases, improving air quality, trickle...

Shopping for a “new” BEV while waiting for the Scout Traveler BEV.

Ask the seller. As mentioned above, all of my information is at Rivian.com and PW protected. All of my paperwork is provided via Docusign (so also PW protected). The physical print-out is located in a clear plastic sleeve exactly where it was delivered to me on delivery day - under the false...
