  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Legacy Scout Historical Info

I realized this afternoon I think we have Colorado, Georgia, Massachusettes, Los Angeles and Oceanside covered. I'm going to throw in Brooklyn. Can you spot the Scout in this banger of a short film? It took me three viewings to notice: Anyway, the point is, for your next road trip, I...

Cool. I was completely unaware of those movies. I suppose you all know, just like there is IMDB, there is IMCDb - Internet Movie Cars Database. https://www.imcdb.org/movie_498360-Jesse-Stone--Night-Passage.html Also, even though I think it was mostly pre-1980, Burt Reynolds famously loved to...

I tried to watch that TV show. Unfortunately for me the Scout was the best thing about the show :).

It amuses me greatly that the mailing address is still on the magazine. I wonder if R.M. RUDD is still around.

    Legacy Scout Historical Info

Is there a place in community.scoutmotors.com for sharing and discussing legacy IH Scout trivia and memorabilia? Particularly stuff from between 1980 and 2020ish? The thing that prompted me to ask was I was remembering the first time that I remember seeing a Scout II, it was in the short...

I didn't see it until you pointed it out. Now it is obvious. To be fair, when I was there in person I was more concerned with 'minding the gap', totally was not looking at the side of the road.

My friend got a video of the truck yesterday morning. Edit: The link shows up as broken on the forum thread but it works for me if I click on it. It seems like maybe the video is only viewable by going to instagram. I'm not sure how to set it to be publicly viewable.

True confessions time. The passenger side door has fingerprints all over it because until a recent generous application of WD-40 the driver side lock was jammed up. So I was unlocking the truck by getting in from the passenger side.

Good eye. But don't worry, they will all be fully covered by desert dust by Monday.

Preparing for a camping trip this weekend and I spotted a fun photo opportunity. The sign is badly photoshopped to hide the street numbers with some words. Anyhow, I thought some of you might appreciate the image. Would be cool to see other peoples "glamour shots". Also, I guess I should...

Prepping for a camping trip this weekend and I saw a great photo opportunity. Thought I'd share it here. Full disclosure, the sign is badly photoshopped to hide the street numbers that are displayed on the real sign.

I had the same problem, so I ended up pasting links to photos I had already put on Instagram, and a link to a Youtube video someone else made of my truck, and to my surprise they all showed up as photos, and a video, inside the post.

Paisley Upholstery in 1973 Scout II

I purchased this truck in 2005 to be able to haul friends and gear to rock climbing areas that needed 4WD to access. It came with a 345 V8 with dual exhaust, what looked like glasspack mufflers and sounded as loud, transmission cooler, CA custom license plate and a photo album of a previous...
