  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Ok, no one asked. Good, depending on your love of the Christian Bale Batman movies, for the exterior styling, I was reminded of a cross between this: And My memory of the movie is obviously faulty, the "Tumbler" batmobile looked much better in what I remember, maybe it was a different car in...

    The Start/Stop Button

I agree creep vs hold should be a choice. I really wanted to like hold, but it did not work for me. Fortunately, my Hyundai makes it a choice. A choice I can select with a button on dash to the left side of the steering wheel, I don't even need to muck with some yucky touch screen software...

    The Start/Stop Button

First, I'm not flexible enough to reach the screen to change the charge mode settings without sitting the driver or passenger seat. I applaud that you are. Second, I did the experiment leaving the gym last night. If I get in the driver seat, don't step on the brake, and do press the start...

    The Start/Stop Button

I was going to complain about the switch being on the steering wheel, and then I remembered there are several switches on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 steering wheel I still haven't bothered to program. As long as the switch, wherever it is located, is like thumb sized so I can spot it easily and...

    The Start/Stop Button

No worries. I also see part of my problem here. You mentioned get in car, don't put foot on brake pedal. I had do some math here, 34 years of driving gas cars, it is pretty hard to not put my right foot on the brake pedal when I get in the car. Except oddly in my '73 scout, where the...

    The Start/Stop Button

I don't know. From years of driving ICE I just put my right foot on the brake pedal. If the car is set in whatever mode it is that it does not move unless you push the accelerator, there should be no reason to need to press the brake pedal to shift in F or R. I have the car set to when you...

    The Start/Stop Button

I dislike screens so I have not "peck around on the screen" in the Hyundai Ioniq 5. I will try this and see what happens. My experience so far is that when I get in the Hyundai and push the start button it asks me to confirm which person is driving. When I program the car to do something...

    The Start/Stop Button

<snip> I have, checks calendar, counts on fingers, 5 months of EV driving experience. Consider the alternative process in the EV unlock car, sit in seat, press start. One less step to get the car electronics turned on. I can then, after getting radio and map all set up on Android auto...

    The Start/Stop Button

I am getting in the car and changing the charging settings approximately 1:4. During the week, I charge at work from 110. Once a week I charge at home overnight from 220 and I want to use scheduled charging off peak only. During the weekend, I need to switch back to all the time charging when...

Colton Goes to Scottsdale | Scout Motors Event at FourtillFour Cafe

Second the request for interior pictures. irrelevant info below 1. I always meant to go to Fourtillfour Encinitas. Never managed to make it before they temporarily closed up shop. 2. I grew up a bit down 99 from Modesto, in Clovis. I'm impressed Colton is making the trip to Scottsdale. Have...

    The Start/Stop Button

Why did I think of this example? Let me share some Scout photos from Sunday. There was a big broken branch on the road. Decent quality wood, I wanted to get it out of the way and maybe find a use for it later, or firewood if that is all it is good for.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I'd seen the term "Hot Hatch" in a headline, but I didn't really grasp what it was. So I found this article: https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/here-are-nine-electric-hot-hatches-past-present-and-future The challenge for SM, is that they need to focus on getting their current vehicles...

    The Start/Stop Button

Agreed, except, don't put it on the steering wheel. Put it on the dash, immediately the right of the steering wheel for left hand drive vehicles.

    The Start/Stop Button

Disclaimer: I am making an assumption here that Scout Motors will primarily sell in North America, and many customers will be people who are coming from gas or diesel vehicles. If I am wrong about that, then maybe my perspective here is also wrong. That disclaimer out of the way, the most...

    The Start/Stop Button

Two pushes on a infortainment touch screen to turn off the vehicle? That would be immediate disqualification from consideration for me. On my current vehicle, I wish there was a button turn the vehicle on and off in accessory mode, because when I plug in to 220V/24A I want to switch to...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I'm not an expert in this, my guess is sensing another car can reliably done as long as the "smart car" is equipped with automotive radar, probably of the 77GHz kind. My Ioniq 5 is amazing at what it can sense, for example cars coming down the street behind me when I am backing out of the...

How did you find out about the new Scouts?

I'll to try to make this a short story about how I came to be interested in Scout Motors. Around 2003 I saw the short film French Fries to Go at a traveling movie festival. Didn't know what the truck in it was, but thought the convertible 4WD alternative fuels vehicle was cool (reference...
