  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

Along with the Land Cruiser reveal, there was the little baby Land Cruiser silhouette teased in the background, likely the 'compact cruiser' EV from before.

    Compact pickup

Your daydream is my daydream too! I want a compact pickup, or a compact 2-door SUV, or a compact anything to be honest. I think the best thing to realistically hope for is that the expected Scout SUV is as compact as it seems in the concept sketch next to the pickup, or that Scout will continue...

    Compact pickup

You're right about the market trend existing, but I think Scout is purposely not using VW platforms as a rule for a whole slew of reasons. For example, the loss of focus may impact many of the potential benefits from building the other two models from the ground-up, and would erode all of the...

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

Also that the throwback trim avoided having a bunch of unneeded frills. I want a level that looks like it has nothing on paper but doesn't cut corners where it matters. The type of trim that comes with small plain steel wheels and high profile, not super wide A/T tires that you'd see on an old...

    Article on Ford electric vehicles

It's incredibly difficult to manufacture a vehicle with a specialized use case without the price shooting through the roof from low volume production. The only way to make an accessibly priced but capable off-road vehicle is by making one that hits the wide 90%+ market share SUV/pickup classes...

Scout Motors at the 100-employee milestone? Lots of openings!

Yeah, I noticed a ton of senior management hires in a short time, and that approach does make sense. I do have my eyes on the openings every day and I was probably among the very first applicants to their project management analyst role at Tysons, and re-applied within a few hours of the...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

It's not just the visuals but the functionality. Visibility is the obvious one, and then there's the nausea as well. Has anyone been a passenger of a new Camaro? The more external environment that is in your field of view, the less motion sick you'll get. The more interior you see, the more...

Scout Motors at the 100-employee milestone? Lots of openings!

Given that an automotive manufacturer requires significant technical and professional expertise for a large portion of their openings and that basically everyone uses LinkedIn nowadays, I'd estimate the ratio of representation on LinkedIn vs unlisted employees is pretty high. There's just under...

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

I guess the idea there was that yes, the low and heavy batteries do make it incredibly unlikely to roll over. However, in some odd edge case where it does somehow roll over anyway, there would need to be a very sturdy rollbar engineered to prevent the occupants getting squished from all that...

Scout Motors Appoints Chief Design Officer

I would think so, he posted this on Instagram back in September of last year. I imagine we'll never know what kind of input it was. A quick Chris Benjamin AMA or design Q&A would be cool and could give all kinds of other insight into his work in general.

    2 Door

I feel like I've said this elsewhere, but based on the concept sketches it seems like either the pickup version is huge or the SUV is surprisingly compact despite being a 4-door, or it is somewhere between those two possibilities. I might still get a 4-door if it is small enough even though I...

    2 Door

For solid-state cells, everyone has their eyes on the wearable and IoT space: tiny trackers, sensors, earbuds, smartwatches, etc. That's where they should show up first, right? Then seeing what transpires means how the sizing increases and the pricing drops from there with advancements, I...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

You're not the only one for this! It might not be too niche to add, especially given how many dark sky sites must be accessed through unpaved roads. Astrophotography in particular went mainstream when Google added it to their Pixel phones. Not to mention all the outdoor activities that aren't...

Service America, an Independent EV Service Center

If you want a more specific indicator than the vague idea of respect and long-term considerations, I believe there was community staff talking about pushing for easily removable/replaceable wheel arch cladding since it always gets beat up over time. I'll need to double check. Whether that type...

Service America, an Independent EV Service Center

Is that an all-night pub crawl with the flu? More seriously, fundamental engineering considerations like repairability that go beyond just showroom features to move units are what makes a revitalized classic continue on as a classic. If the long term isn't prioritized, that's how people get...

    Scout Swag

I like just using the forum logo itself: Keeps the shirt from feeling too busy, and it's the most direct reference possible. You can tell it's Scout Motors and not SCOUT Bags because of the typography anyway. Alternatively, there's a fairly common design I've seen on car t-shirts, where you...

    Do you enjoy going topless

I'm picturing separate panels over the driver side, passenger side, and rear area that can either be individually removed or the whole top can be easily removed as one large piece. Too bad with only 8 votes and no ranking of preferences there's not a whole lot of info here other than 'different...
