  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Remember - these rags all have biases too... I would take all of this data with a grain of salt and consider sources and do much more exhaustive research if you don't know actual owners that can verify claims made by OEM's. Of course with Scout, we will be beholden to trusting 3rd parties. The...

    Key Fob question

Don't know a single manufacturer that ONLY issues PaaK.

    Higher Range

"Brand" is pretty broad in my mind... Very hard to tell what was aggregated underneath each "brand" - what models did they test? model year, tires, wheels, drive trains, battery packs? Hard to say looking at a brand chart. This is an example of a better perspective when considering range data...

How much more would you pay for a Launch Edition Scout

I think around 5K maybe, but wasn't ever really fully disclosed I don't think.

    Key Fob question

Or when your key FOB dies - then that sucks too! ;-)

How much more would you pay for a Launch Edition Scout

Launch Green was only made available to the earliest reservation holders who had the ability to convert a reservation into a Launch Edition, but they could choose other free colors or pay-to-play colors if they wanted. The configurator was given to those early customers first, and the limited...

    Key Fob question

Very true. But I could see the Harvester "audience" being more prone to wanting a tactile push button start, since you actually DO need to physically start the gen-set. Of course Scout probably wants to minimize costs. One option for Pure BEV owners could be to disable the requirement to use...

    Yes, Rivian as well.

    Higher Range

The big consideration (beyond capability) here is COST $$$$ Scout is designing a truck to a "projected" estimated range of 350 miles, and cost for that is an important variable since we have a pricing projection as well. From Scout: RANGE Scout Motors estimates the Traveler™ SUV and Terra™...

    Key Fob question

1 data point. We have 2 ICE SUV's (one beater) and the R1T. This has never happened in my household. I think once you own an EV without a start button that offers excellent SW configurations and key options, you quickly realize that there is really no need for one, and that it would be a...

I'm not sure what you are arguing about, since we have no actual production specs or data to ascribe to your argument.

Not sure why we are bothering to re-hash this again a week later, but OK. You literally acknowledged not knowing that so many EV's met or exceed EPA range estimates in this thread: https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/battery-only-or-harvester-starting-to-rethink-it.7554/#post-74952...

Oh, and don't forget! Make the MSRP $40K for 400 miles of range in any weather with any condition with any accessories at 90MPH! LFG! Why is this unreasonable? Because SCIENCE. Scout isn't going to break the laws of physics anytime soon. Sure, you can go buy a truck that has 450 miles of range...

Not necessarily - It all depends, although that would be a good sized battery for this truck, for sure. Depends on final battery size & spec's, depends on wheels and tires, depends on final coefficient of drag, depends on WX, depends on testing, etc, etc, etc,... But, what we do know is this...

    PBY (Pale Butter Yellow)

Well I'm guessing that based on the Scout color pallete from 1978: Scout II, Scout Terra, Scout Traveler 1978 Color Card International That you color could be called "SIAM YELLOW"... I'm also guessing that it might have faded a little bit over time back in the good 'ole days.
