  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I have not looked into the new Jeep market since we purchased ours - which was about as fully loaded of Rubicon as you can get without having the dealer do modifications. That was 3 years and about 65k ago. I suspect that you could still order a stripped Jeep, it might be in the 40k range -...

    Home Charger Reviews and FAQs

V2H does not interest me all that much. It could be useful I guess in limited situations, but I have not heard of many that can push all that many amps. I guess 10amps at 240 is better than nothing, but I better shut down every significant load first - it will power the fridge and lights. Of...

    New Years Resolutions 2025

Fish more - make that one every year, generally fail, or technically succeed in a very unspectacular fashion. Fished once 2 years ago (caught 2 1/2 fish - shark got the other 1/2). Took my kayak and boat out a lot more this last year, but technically only had lines in the water for 2hrs (and...

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

They look nice, but I got a bunch of 6 gallon milk crates on clearance. $7 beats starting at $40 (other than that random accident, 6 gallons usually start about $15). When I saw the price, I bought a truck bed (and back seat) full - and tried to go back for more because friends wanted some...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

For a truck with 35" tires and a lift, it does not have all that impressive ground clearance. Looks like they just bolted 4" of battery under an ICE vehicle.

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

House has been a VERY long time in coming. Made a deal with my wife 4-5 years ago to do it. Took us till about this time last year to remotely agree on a design (after going with an architect who would not listen, just browsed 100's of plans online, then customized from there. Then 6 months to...

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

Have to say I am tempted as well - but it is a temptation I am going to do my best to supress. Building a new house and until that is done, an EV would not be a good fit. By the time the house is done, well it will not be that much more of a wait anyway.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

Had to google Trailboss. Various posts said the Trailboss is closer to a 4x4 WT (they mentioned things like too much plastic). Lots of the purchasers were saying they had wished they spent the money and gotten the Z71. Z71 looses out just a little on off road, but is a lot nicer everyday...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Just looked at the Ford BlueCruise map. Looks like about 5 roads in Texas allow it. While not completely useless to me - would be very hard to warrant a subscription when I generally use only one of those roads, and it is often less than 1 trip a month. So sure, if you commute on one of those...

    Happy Holidays!

For most of America, Christmas has become more of a secular holiday than a religious one. Being with family has totally eclipsed going to Church. I know this year, when I asked my wife - mass or sleep, she chose sleep. But the alarm went off in the morning and we went to Church anyway (so we...

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

Scout's design is a small generator and frunk. Dodge and now Ford are planning on a large generator and no frunk. There is room for both designs in the world - hell at some point there will probably be room for both designs from Scout. If enough buyers say they want to tow more and the market...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

I don't always HATE subscriptions - sometimes it is easy to see that the feature has an ongoing operational cost. Take a cell phone. There is a ton of infrastructure that must be maintained to keep it operating, and there are use costs on top of that - more use requires more infrastructure to...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

No monthly subscription? Was bored so I was looking at used Lightning prices - guess I did not realize that after spending a ton upfront, after 3 years Ford wanted an additional $50/month. Then googled... Tesla-$100 monthly, GMC-$25, Mercedes-$2500/year.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I am not overly worried about it being as wide of body as the F150. Scout is not putting on huge fender flares and probably not towing mirrors (although I do enjoy towing mirrors). I had an F150 before my F250, and it felted almost dainty in comparison (the F150 was my 3rd 1/2 ton). Moving to...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

I had a couple Christmas discussions about the Lightning. One person had apparently been shopping used, and said $30k used Lightnings were common. While I could not find that online, I did see one for $35k - it had an MSRP over $90k from it sticker. 55k depreciation in 3 years is kind of...

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

Have a whole house propane generator at a rent house. I guess it has about 200hrs on it - 3 service calls, with one main circuit board failure (2 other failures cost a lot less to fix). So it has failed 3 times in the equivalent of a little more than 10k miles. Now in all fairness, the engine...

    Possible competition?

Well this will do nothing good to resale value of Lightnings - so they will undercut some of the Scout market I guess. Kind of competition. Talked with 2 people today considering used Lightnings if the price goes low enough.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Googled Cybertrucks for sale a couple days ago. While there will always be specific vehicles that sell low and motivated sellers that want a vehicle gone yesterday - most are still asking close to $80k. The used market is mostly Founders Editions. Sure they have taken a hit from the new...

EV reservation holders, would you consider the Harvester

I'm fairly patient. Started looking about 15 years ago. First 2 options were stalling, so got a different commuter car while I was waiting (it needs work now, but it is still a great vehicle that is currently not really replaceable). Then a couple years latter I really wanted the Buzz to...
