  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Traveler:: Electric Auto-Folding Side Mirrors

I like towing mirrors - so having those retract and fold is very nice. Saw folding mirrors on a 911 - they did not look that great- and only save a couple inches.

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

Reminds me of a joke. Friends are friends when they say what body. Good friends say they have a spare shovel. Great friends say they own a backhoe. Or an infamous thread years ago on a user group, where the OP asked how to get blood stains out of a cheerleaders uniform and a couch. Never was...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

This one can be easy enough with programming. Allow the user to determine which doors unlock when you open the drivers or passenger door (via proximity key). It is frustrating with my F250. If I open the passenger door, all doors unlock, but if I open the drivers door - I have to reach in to...

Headlight & DRL Color Temperature Changed?

LED emitters produce a fairly limited spectrum of light. Color changing is done (as far as I know) by using by producing different spectrum emitters in an array and varying the intensity between them. Given that virtually most high power LED's now are multi emitter arrays - it is not difficult...

    Scout collaborating with researchers?

As part of VAG, and as a startup. I would suspect they are not spending a ton of money on research - but rather siphoning tech from the rest of the group. Honestly, it is/was part of an old problem within VAG. Legacy bred a culture where each brand in the group wanted their own independent...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Very tiring. VW does not own Scout - VAG does. Honestly, if VW dealers win, I would prefer that Scout never, not in a cold day in hell sells a Scout. Now VAG owns International Motors (same as VW) - and International Motors have an existing network in the US. And honestly, they are just as...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

It is, but Jamie has mentioned that there is more work necessary getting the Harvester into production than the BEV (a combination of more complexity and a later start on development). So I see the announcement more of a confirmation that that additional work is still on schedule for 2028...

EV reservation holders, would you consider the Harvester

Decided long ago that 350 mile range was my cutoff. 450 would make me a LOT more comfortable. Not so much that I need 450 mile range, but I really want 350 miles of range, and don't want light towing (lawn mower or kayak trailer) or actual AT tires to put me much below that 350 miles. As it...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

I read the announcements as a primarily an assurance to Harvester reservations that they will not be unduly delayed due to their by prioritizing EV's. It never said EV's were being delayed or not being made, just that Harvesters, with their added complexity and later start on development will...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Had a Bug - or at least a vehicle that started as one. It could hit 55mph (downhill, with a tail wind). I don't think it would be doing long tows with that trailer, at least not quickly.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

There is potentially still the issue with generator size. Scout is targeting efficiency while Ford and Dodge are likely to target tow ratings - although unless things change, it might be only bumper ratings. Nobody has done a gooseneck/fifth wheel EV truck yet. Anyway, Scout only needs about...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

It will not be an initial flop - range anxiety is a real thing. I think as charging speeds and ranges get better, the need will drop. I also think people will become more aware of the charging locations on the trips they routinely do. People will start to realize they don't need the generator...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

To date, no EV truck can do truck stuff for me. Perhaps the next Dodge or Ford EREV will - or perhaps not. Truck stuff to me includes pulling a loaded gooseneck. Sure I am not in the majority - and I love my diesel F250. It's only issue - and it is an issue with any truck that can do what it...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

This says even less than what I thought was being reported. It did not even say that the EREV will delivered before the EV - just that the EREV deliveries are not expected to be delayed significantly. Hard to say what they are actually planning on production lines. They could easily be...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

In the past, they have said production will begin in late 2027, they are now saying deliveries will begin in 2028 - those are not mutually exclusive. Honestly, the first almost already dictated the second. Prioritizing the version with the highest number of reservations is also fairly...

    Scout delayed??

The word prioritize does not overly worry me. It does not necessarily mean that production will be exclusively Traveler EREV - and it does make sense that more effort will go into EREV production given that they currently represent 87% of reservations. Likewise, currently the Traveler has 2x...

    Scout delayed??

Well, while this is depressing - it also is not really news. Late 2027 production always meant that vehicles were not going to be delivered till 2028 (at least to customers - test units maybe). The depressing point is we really have no clue how many or when they will be delivered in 2028...

    Spare tire discussion

I don't have my father's job, and don't abuse my vehicles liked his job did. On normal days, he would carry a spare in the bed (not sure if he even bothered to carry one underneath) and kept 2 more on standby. On bad days, he would have 2 in the bed, and grab the 3rd (to drop of the flats) by...

Ford’s future small BEV vs Terra

While I can enjoy driving a small vehicle occasionally - it simply does not fill the niche I want the Traveler for.

    Key Fob question

Honestly, if they wanted to really mess with us - allow for phone or watch to unlock and start car - but give us actual keys to go with the buttons. Keys that don't mind getting wet - something we could strap on a life vest and play when playing with a jet ski or going swimming.
