  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

But knowing it hypothetically and knowing it personally from experience are often very different.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Absolutely. It has everything to do with familiarity. I didn't start doing this until about a year after owning the vehicle(s). But I always find out on purpose before I find out accidentally. Doing it on purpose means I'm in control and understand the consequences. Having it happen to me...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I saw a poll, “we’d like your feedback about range anxiety." I haven’t got it. I use the full capacity of my battery. Because I can charge at home, I’m freed from the constraints of having to reserve something “in the tank” to make it back to the gas station. I just charge at home. And to be...

Thanks for the correction. I don’t use ABRP in the vehicle, and rarely even for planning, so I’m not familiar with its requirements.

Help me decide BEV or EREV

They’re already going to have a coolant loop running from the heat pump to the front motor, to the battery, and to the rear motor on both the BEV and the Harvester. They will probably have another, smaller one, for the cabin. Adding another loop won’t significantly increase the R&D required. It...

We use Roll20 for maps and Zoom for the virtual meeting space. We can’t give up our own personal dice so we roll on our own. We’ve been playing together since grad school. That is, some 25-35 years.

    Yes, please.

March 2026 Scout Production Center Update

I think the guess is that the very earliest deliveries will happen in late 2027 with most early deliveries happening in the first and second quarters of 2028. This is consistent with what many of us understood from reveal day when Scout stated that “initial production [is] targeted for 2027.”...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

I mean, there are fewer in that hypothetical system than one with the engine in the same place using a traditional water pump and air-liquid cooling via basic radiator... Another reason to stay with BEV.

Help me decide BEV or EREV

They’ll need to route heat-exchange fluid to and through the engine and back to some where they can dump the heat. That fluid could be air, but air isn’t great for moving energy, so it would not be my first choice. I’d run pressurized CO2 or another refrigerant in a heat pump with the heat...

    Rear Window

Probably not. I get it. Our Costco is a 3-hour round trip from us, so we sometimes tow a trailer and bring a camping fridge on freezer mode.

    Rear Window

It’s also really fun to wave some helpful person off when they see you have the hood of your vehicle up. Nope, just putting groceries in the frunk, nothing to worry about here.

    R2 Launch Watch

I really love pretty much everything about the Rivians except the in-cab UX. If I could test drive one for a month to get a feel for whether the UX annoyances would go away, I’d jump at that opportunity, but I can't afford to buy one just to run that test. The engineering of these vehicles is...

I mostly like RocketLab. They’re doing good work and taking the thoughtful approach. One key that I like about their management especially is that they're not rejecting the expertise of literally millions of person-years of experience that can be found in the world's space agencies. That said, I...

    Reservation order

With the Mustang it was possible to track almost every stage of the movement of your vehicle once it was given a VIN. Not because Ford made it easy, but because lots of people knew just enough for the group to put the puzzle pieces together. The flow was fairly predictable in some parts and...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

It’s a super difficult thing. Balancing risks is far, far more difficult than most people will even bother to comprehend. One of the reasons the showman’s company has barely met any of his promises (he promised he would land rockets on Mars by 2016 and people by 2018, for example) is because...

Custom-designed and built sets… Nice! Semi-custom gaming tables were going for >$10k a pop a couple of years ago. I could never commit that kind of money, but I understand the appeal.

    I wasn’t going to brag… I play D&D with a friend who is running operations…among a couple dozen other friends. ;) :)
