  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Re-think Headlight Design

I get the comparison for light shape, but should probably be with a R1, since the R2 is much smaller. The lights look a little "off" using R2!~

    Water and Batteries don't mix

Just for reference, back in 2022, over 7,000 boats were lost or damaged in Lee County during Hurricane Ian... That is in 1 county. You can loose a lot of stuff - even stuff that floats on top of water - in a natural disaster. Good news is that most cars have wheels. If you want to avoid a...

Roasted turkey, BBQ’d/smoked or fried turkey 2024

Brining overnight... Dry & Fry tomorrow! I just shove her right into the kettle for brining. This gives me a fill line and a decent idea of how much diesel to fry it in.

    Move Harvester generator to frunk

Wow, we went full circle back to gas town.

    Move Harvester generator to frunk

Unless, of course, the generator just runs like a normal generator would at home - at a steady & efficient state at all times - just churning electricity for the battery directly... Then the only thing that matters is the vehicles SOC.

    Re-think Headlight Design

I never heard the Scout team say this. Everyone is entitled to an opinion (I happen to like the front end b/c it doesn't look like any other truck out there), and I think it looks very good, but we shouldn't assume that the design team was charged with designing around "not being a Bronco"...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

The Ramcharger (like the Terra) is available for reservation-only, and it is not for sale today. It is essentially still a concept vehicle, at least until you can configure one, and order one. Unlike the Terra, The Ramcharger's physical setup is very different. It includes a large 3.6L Pentastar...

    tonneau cover standard?

I feel like there is definitely a sweet spot for Scout here... Rivian has already re-designed their automated cover, and while my original version is still working flawlessly after ~40K miles, I know others have had their original tonneau's replaced with the new redesigned version, under...

    Re-think Headlight Design

Agreed - and Rivian goes so far as to call them "stadium lights" based on the roundness - The new update to the headlights for the Gen2 R1's moved the amber turn signal from the "surround" on stadium light to the lower lights. Not sure what they are doing with the R2 lights (which is what is in...

    Re-think Headlight Design

I think the original design looks better, and gives a nod to a more "squared off" light with the 4 small bars. It has grown on me.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I don't think anyone is here is disliking or hating on mini-vans, rather the debate seemed to be around "who will be the target market?". From this discussion, it sounds like they could be: 1. A subset of 3-ROW SUV buyers (the ones that don't really need a SUV to do SUV things, except maybe...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Taking any possible issues with a buyer's ego out of the equation, my guess is that Drivetrain can be a big factor for those purchasing trucks and SUV's (for real demands of doing truck and and SUV "stuff" ) and if you live in more temperate or more mountainous regions with snow and ice and mud...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I see what some of you are saying... There is a subset of SUV buyers out there that really don't "need" an SUV. They just buy the SUV b/c it is big, looks cool and has a 3rd row? In that case, and for that group, I could see a subset of buyers potentially considering a Buzz. I also do agree...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

No doubt, I find them super utilitarian (not threatening at all)... You can even slide MTB's into the back when removing rows of seats... Those removable rows of seats are killer. I just don;t need one... And I cannot get this video from 10 years ago out of my head

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I guess so, but its still not a SUV, its a legit mini-van, so I (personally) would compare the pricing to a hybrid mini-van before SUV's. I guess my mini van demographic mindset goes to a place where there is a young, new family with smallish children looking for solid, convenient, safe...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

This start of this route leads me to an important question, did you visit Lassen Volcanic National Park? I snapped a pic of this nice little 4X4 Camper set up while in the park (not an EV LOL):

    OEM Camper Shell

I would much rather see Scout partner with someone like a GFC (as opposed to being distracted)... Something like this would be an amazing Collab:

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Me neither, even if it is an EV... Maybe my mind would be changed if I were in the market for a mini van, but I don't think owning a $75K mini-van was ever anyone's aspiration

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Are these limited production vehicles? A Honda Oddysey or Toyota Sienna are priced around $45-50K new (I think?). I would have expected this VW mini van to be priced in that range, or perhaps slightly higher, because it does look cooler and does have a much nicer retro vibe to it. $75K for a...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I use the phone key most of the time and usually have the card or FOB as a back-up (in luggage for example, when traveling). I use the card & bracelet less frequently, but are great for surfing or when you want to ditch your phone for some reason. I can't remember the last time my phone battery...
