  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Camper Shell

Do any OEM's offer full-sized pick-ups with their own caps? I'm not sure I have seen any.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Right, but could the truck have been in an "EV only mode" and driven to a gas station and just filled up? Hard to say what the screens would mean in isolation from knowing the driving circumstances, or what settings are available. I think we need to wait and see and get more context.

    Camper Shell

Are you referring to a cap or a camper? When I hear "camper" I think of something different than a simple cap over the truck bed, which are usually built aftermarket.

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

If not having any definitive answers to share is barking, then I apologize. For the record, reserving the pure EV does not preclude anyone from wanting to better understand how the Harvester will be implemented, or to see Scout succeed. I actually find the whole discussion to be fascinating...

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

The secret to EV trucks is clearly out de' bag

    Questions about the Harvester

I have some real world experience since my quad motor launch edition R1T (large battery pack) sits on 20"s. I run the Pirelli AT Scorpion in the summer (and they were intentionally engineered for off-road performance in an EV truck according to Pirelli and Rivian). Now, what you will hear from...

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

Totally disagree. Physical packaging & location of the Harvester is entirely part of the equation and absolutely must be a consideration for this discussion. Alluding to technology that exists today (in a full sized engine compartment) and not accounting for the fact that the Scout is not a car...

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

Yes, tap the lower right circle / arrow icon that you can see in your picture (under SNOW MODE) to refresh your settings for that drive mode, and you will then see REGEN is set to LOW. https://stories.rivian.com/software-update-snow-mode

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

To be clear, that is not what I was saying (if you were directing that to me). In fact, I have quite clearly stated that we require engineering facts before we can accurately assess and comment on the Harvester implementation. You, on the other hand, assume that Scout must implement its...

VW cash flow issues affect Scout?

I understand that there may be a desire for lower cost EV's, but my hope is for American EV's to succeed. For me, part of the allure with Scout is being American-made.
  14. R1TVT

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

Right, but SNOW mode automatically sets REGEN to "LOW" and softens throttle response... Not sure what your co-worker was saying, because the truck would have already been in the lowest Regen setting:

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

I have questions.... How can you 100% guarantee anything when we have ZERO Harvester or battery details disclosed by Scout? You keep alluding to inefficiency, but ignore the physics of propelling a relatively inefficient 7000+ Pound, block of a truck truck (not a small car) up a mountain or...
  16. R1TVT

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

3 things I would consider, since you're in a Rivian: 1. Use SNOW MODE in those conditions 2. If you are not in snow mode & have normal settings and want to cruise through ice, do not take your foot all the way off the accelerator 3. Dedicated snows in winter make a tremendous difference in...

VW cash flow issues affect Scout?

The global market implications surrounding EV and PHEV sales are so dynamic right now. Maybe VW getting lean helps Scout. I think I would much prefer to be in Scout's shoes in this current market & economy than to be 1 of the big 3. Maybe Scout being a new domestic company and having time to...
  18. R1TVT

    Over-the-air-updates?

Just to be clear, that article is a bit "sensationalized" because not all Rivian owners rec'd the update, and they do updates on a rolling / tiered basis (not all at once) so it affected 3% of owners, and they were still able to drive their cars - they just lost the infotainment screen. Also...

    Intelligence

You don't need to use it - it's optional, and lots of people love HWY assist on long road trips. Also - this tech adds important safety features No concept of what would make that appealing to anyone

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

Not necessary - just likely they will open more and more, and they have some awesome locations and share some DNA with Scout being oriented toward the outdoors and adventure and trucks. I was simply alluding to the fact that with an agreement already in place, and since there are going to be...
