  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Sounds like a job for either the Harvester OR the pure EV.

Terra Full Size Spare (35") Mount

There nothing stopping anyone (or any aftermarket company) from providing a swing-out on the truck or SUV. That already exists today and if someone wanted or needed a swing out rear tire, they could do that from the 2" receiver, for example. Here's one: As for the front? That would be an...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Yes, or another way to think about it is "can your Harvester and battery work together to provide the same performance characteristics across what has been stated as a 500 mile range"... We will have to wait and see if that is the case, but that would be the expectation. ***CAVEAT - Range is...

    Questions about the Harvester

Good news... There's real data to validate that the average daily commuting time in the US is less than 30 minutes. Of course that includes those that take other forms of transportation / public transportation. Some stats from BTS.gov: 87% of Americans take a car to work. U.S. daily travel...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Some people in the Ramcharger camp do not believe that the Harvester will generate electricity for the battery. But if the Harvester does serve as a generator to power the battery, and if the vehicle is in motion, the battery may be discharging electrons from one or more of its modules while...

    tonneau cover standard?

I would agree that once you have power, it is a pretty nice option. I have a '22 Launch Edition and my powered tonneau is still working - even after 3 fall seasons with leaves and pine needles and crap + winters with snow and ice. One thing I never do though is 100% retract it. I always leave a...

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

Good overview of different drive types here: https://www.synopsys.com/blogs/chip-design/autonomous-driving-levels.html from the same article: Level 3 (Conditional Driving Automation) The jump from Level 2 to Level 3 is substantial from a technological perspective, but subtle if not...

    Delete Start/Stop

Yes, agreed... That is what I was saying - I thought that button was for the Harvester config only
  9. R1TVT

    Delete Start/Stop

And here I was thinking that button would be to manually start/stop the Harvester... LOL. I'm not sure what a start/stop button would do for the pure EV except create more lag. Maybe that is the answer - DELETE start/stop for the pure EV, b/c once you awaken/unlock an EV, start/stop would be...

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

I posted this above. (Post #33)... DRIVER + works incredibly well on longer HWY runs, and it will drive your truck for you, but you must remain alert and attentive. If you take your hands off the wheel for too long, it will pop an alert to put your hand on the wheel, which can be a finger on the...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

With those requirements, I'm not sure why you would ever want to buy a new truck (of any make or model)... Just sayin'

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Good news there is that you are not "allowed" to fully trust L2 by definition (and implementation). You are required to keep alert and to keep a hand on your steering wheel. Even if it is just a finger, you must be ready to take control. L2 is far better than adaptive with lane keeping for...

    Driving Sounds

If you don't own an EV, you might think they are silent, but they are hardly silent.... They are silent at slow speed only (therefore the regs on emitting pedestrian noises at low-speed). Once you get over 20 in a truck there is wind and road / tire noise - just like an ICE truck - even a...

What are y'all hoping Scout Community UX™ might bring?

You will be in for a very pleasant surprise then - especially with the "community UX" features for passengers and drivers built on top of the Rivian Zonal architecture. Scout's approach to UI/UX is extremely intentional and they are smart to partner and leverage the Rivian relationship in this...

Traveler Ride Quality and NVH Expectations

Wheels and tires are a configuration choice when building your vehicle - You made it sound like every R1S has 22"s.... Here's an example with 20's and AT's:

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

From what we've heard, Scout will not be FSD, so that is not a concern. Even if Scout offered a FSD update, it would still need to be manually engaged. Also, I don't know of any current make or model truck that defaults to "turning on smarty pants junk" when you start a drive. L2 driving (as...

Traveler Ride Quality and NVH Expectations

Its also what inexperienced EV drivers and car drivers do when they get into a real SUV! I completely agree with the 1st post regarding some of this falling on the drivers (and not the SUV), and based on 4 people I know personally that own an R1S, they have zero complaints about ride quality...

Traveler Ride Quality and NVH Expectations

To be clear, when you say "1-st gen R1S" you are also referring to an article from 2022 prior to suspension updates. I think it is remarkable that OTA's are able to deliver improvements over time and give Rivian a lot of credit for addressing certain aspects of the R1S ride-quality that needed...

    Longer Range battery option

Agreed (+ cost $$$ + longer charge times + being unnecessary) considering American driving habits & usage as a daily driver for many. Also - 350 miles of pure-EV range will be super impressive for this beast.
