  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I had paddle shifters in a V6 Audi sportback with Quattro when I was younger. When driving around in a "sporting" mood, they were fun for that sort of stuff. In a large, heavy truck like the R1T (and based driving lots of other trucks), paddles shifters are a lot less appealing, but maybe I'm...

    Driving Distance Poll

Correct, not every Supercharger site is available to non-Teslas. We are seeing more and more gas stations with DCFC's, and certainly the bigger players in the C-Store space have been ahead of the curve compared to the big gas station brands. The ones that want to sell food (the WaWa's, the...

    Battery Capacity Options

Rivian utilizes only the 2 front motors in " Conserve mode" - which is excellent on long drives. As far as tire wear, people do dumb things in EV's as was pointed out above, then they expect their tires to be pristine. In the case of Rivian, and in addition to launching, one of those dumb...

    Driving Distance Poll

This is not true. With a NACS adapter (which Rivian provided to me for free to charge at select Tesla Superchargers) I can go to other Supercharger sites (not just the magic dock sites). The only thing the magic dock sites do is eliminate the need for the adapter. The magic dock is the adapter...

    Driving Distance Poll

I do either a ~360 mile roundtrip on weekends in the winter, or a ~180 mile round trip on weekends in the summer. I also travel to lacrosse tournaments all over the NE for my kids. Longest tournament distance ~850 miles round trip to Annapolis. All done in a 2022 first generation launch edition...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I rarely change regen settings on a drive for any reason. I have no problem with people wanting them, but would never use them (as long as you can adjust the regen and the drive modes). in fact, I think the ONLY time I ever do change regen settings is when I go into SNOW MODE. That is it.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Yes. You're right, but he also knows full well what 350 miles of PURE EV range will get you without the Harvester. That is better performance, one less subsystem and better towing (albeit better for more local/regional towing than long-haul towing). If constant long-range towing is what you are...

    Girl Scout Cookies

I was a Scout too when I was a kid. It was basically an extension of our town baseball team with dads leading pine box derby, fishing trips and an annual camping outing. It was fun when we were young (elementary age) then we all sort of aged-out for other things. Unfortunately, and likely also...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

That is AWESOME, and what do you know, you just set up your next test drive with Leno to blow his doors off. I see a round #2 video coming...? I would agree 100% that you guys have pushed the boundaries with those early concept vehicles more than any manufacturer I have ever seen. Everyone here...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

The critic in me (after watching the video end-to-end) is telling me that the video may have been more impactful with less content. I totally get that Jay Leno is a great spokesperson and car guru. That said, there was a ton of repeat content. Also, much of the criticality regarding the ride...

    Girl Scout Cookies

I'm not so sure Scout motors wants to be directly connected to the "organization"... I thought they had a big scandal and went bankrupt!

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

If you are having a hard time in a Rivian and you are new to Regen and 1-pedal driving, it is likely either related to the drive mode you are in (which impacts pedal sensitivity), or the Regen setting. You can reduce the amount of regen directly, or switch to a different drive mode with a lower...

    Free charge

When you say "free charge" you might get a free charge for your accessories while camping, but not so much juice for a giant EV truck battery. You also need to consider wiring, a switch panel, monitoring and converting solar to something like a small car battery (all of which take storage space...

I'm glad SM didn't have a Superbowl ad...

I dunno which Superbowl you were watching, b/c Kendrick Lamar singing from the hood of the new Scout was the highlight for me

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Other than receiving a tax incentive / rebate, the government had no impact on my decision. I had to wait 2+ years to get my truck, so there weren't any guarantees and there weren't any mandates. I had been following Rivian's progress and placed an early pre-order - for a variety of reasons (NOT...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Modern battery packs & chemistries coupled with sophisticated BMS systems allow for daily charging with limited degradation. People DO drive their EV's everyday, and people DO charge them daily. Usually, modern EV's even have a preset "daily charge limit", which usually tops you off to around a...

    Scout as an EV

I would venture to guess (looking way back over yonder) that had Scout survived to live beyond 1980 (and Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran), they may very well have beaten Rivian to the electric truck party.

    Scout as an EV

My great grandpappy took my great grandmammy by horseback to the saloon every Friday night, despite the tumbleweeds, rain, sleet, dust devils & packs of wolverine. Grandpappy eventually came into some gold nuggets and bought a buggy for his horsies at the behest of grandmammy. At first he...

    All gas

I too, was once a gas guy.... Until I bought an EV truck. Would be way too hard to go back to ICE, feels completely obsolete now.

    Range and Competitiveness

100%... I get that this is where the market may be at this very point in time, but it will not stay in this middling territory for long. https://insideevs.com/news/745522/hybrids-road-to-hell-china/
