  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I think they explicitly said they’re not trying to do a retro design, rather using some design elements and imagining what a modern generation scout might’ve looked like.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I think “hybrid” style batteries on diesel electric locomotives is a relatively new thing. Traditionally they just connect the alternator (generator) to the electric motors that drive the wheels. From UP’s website: “Although commonly called "diesels," the locomotives actually are...

    Lithium Battery Firewall/extinguisher?

It’s a very attractive idea, but I’m a bit skeptical. A fire needs just heat and O2, and a fire extinguisher works by trying to deprive it of one or both of those. The problem with li ion fires is it gets both from the battery, so once it gets going, you can’t easily put it out by smothering...

Option for a Rugged/Waterproof Interior Trim

And a rubberish wristband key, handy when swimming without pockets.

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

Smartest thing VW has done since spinning up Scout Motors!

Are factory deliveries for reservation holders being considered?

Ok, no one seems to be addressing the most important question here: are those donut holes in the glass case by the café? What other pastries might be offered? Any other food options? ???

    Electrochromatic Panoramic Sunroof?

It is really cool, but it has one of the downside compared to a physical shade - it still lets a lot of light through. If you want a lot nice shady interior, you still need a physical shade.

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

Yes, that makes sense. I think we can both agree that Rivians choice not to include apple CarPlay/android auto is driven by business and UI decisions, not because of any difficulty of implementation.

    Missing the mark

That’s true, but don’t assume that this implies that they’re in any way “giving up” on EVs. They are investing heavily in the next generation of ev manufacturing, reducing cost, improving tech and design, etc. I’ve listened to a number of interviews with ford ceo Jim Farley and he really gets...

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

Yes, “cabana” is canvas/fabric top that slides back and kinda folds up as it slides. Looks cool, gives very open feeling, but I’m skeptical that it would seal effectively. I can imagine leaks and noise, and not sure how it would hold up over time. Maybe it’s easy to replace?

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

The stuff they’re sharing with/getting from rivian is at a lower level, ie the internal network architecture, not necessarily the higher level UI stuff, so I don’t think rivians UI choices should affect them too much. Also, as a software guy, I can tell you that when a developer tells you they...

    Switches and Knobs?

Nearly every review I see of an ev dings them for not having enough physical buttons. ID4, rivian, Mach e, even Kia get bad marks for confusing/inconvenient controls. “Need to go through menus to turn on seat warmers”, “need to change modes to adjust temp”, “gestures don’t work” . One...

    Remote Features

It seems to me there are different situations wrt subscriptions. There’s the really slimy kind, where your vehicle has a capability, like seat warmers or rear steering but the auto manufacturer disables them with software unless you pay a subscription. I’d be very surprised and disappointed if...

Say hello to the new Scout® Terra™ Truck and Scout® Traveler™ SUV

Yes. Steel, glass or cabana, as you wish.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Or they start shipping in 2027 but it’ll be the 2028 model year. Jamie said 2027 and he knows we’ll hold him to it ?

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Follow up on this, apparently ford is now shipping the lectron adapters, so I expect they’re decent. A2Z is probably good too.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I think a see a possible source of confusion here. It’s not kW/h (kilowatts per hour), it’s kWh (kilowatt * hours). Maybe another way to think of it is energy is in kilowatt hours (kWh) and power is in kilowatt hours per hour (hours cancel and you just get kW), but maybe that’s just more...

    Re-think Headlight Design

“looks too similar to the ones Porsche uses” - you say that like it’s a bad thing ???

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I haven’t experienced automated parking myself, but my impression is that it only works when there’s plenty of space, ie primarily when you don’t need it. One exception being the key fob controlled backing straight in our out, where there’s room to fit but not open the door once it’s parked.

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

So that rectangle between the NACS plug and the 110 outlets, is that a button? Or some weird port? And what’s that round hole on the far right?
