  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    October 2024 Production Center Update

Bummer that they stopped remote service. Does that mean they have some sort of service center within a reasonable distance now?

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

I don’t know about current ev trucks, but all the Kia/hyundai vehicles I’ve tried have regen paddles that allow regen to be reduced to nil, so you coast when you lift your foot off the pedal.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Everybody who stays at the hotel is being offered access to the chargers, just like many hotels offer free toothbrushes and razors if needed, but few take that offer. so we don’t have a problem.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Not everyone wants the food, nor the free WiFi, nor the tvs in the rooms, or ice, or printers, or fax machines, &c, but they all have a cost and are offered as guest convenience. If hotels decide it’s worth it to appeal to more customers, it’s up to them

Charge port at front, passenger side

But there really isn’t an industry standard, there are cars with ports front/back, left right and center. This is really only an issue for older Tesla chargers because they have very short cables. Everyone else, even newer Tesla chargers have cables of sufficient length that it’s really not...

    Where are EV chargers needed

Many (most?) do, and there are a number of third party options (j+ booster, grizzl-e and others). Typically they come with some sort of adapter for a number of different plugs.

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

I think we’re basically saying the same thing. My point is you shouldn’t have to think about exactly how the brakes are implemented, when you hit the brake pedal it should slow down as efficiently as possible, which in an ev would be mostly electric regen. There shouldn’t be any more wear on...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

There is always a certain amount of waste when you recover energy with regen. Most efficient thing to do is coast when possible, and maximize regen when you’re slowing down. That’s what the brake pedal does, when it’s done right, ie blended braking. You don’t need one pedal driving to...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

Using the brake pedal shouldn’t be equated to friction brakes. Brake pedal means slow down; a driver shouldn’t care what combination of electric and friction braking is required, just that it’s smooth and predictable. It seems that some car makers couldn’t figure out how to do that so they...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

My pref isn’t really there, akin to “all of the above”, but I’d like the brake pedal to always do regen when it can and friction when it needs to, ie “blended braking”. I’d like paddles to control what happens when I take my foot off the gas, so I can use it the same way as engine braking, ie...

Future Model: Scout Sport- Smaller, and more efficient, but still capable.

In a recent interview, Ford CEO noted that with traditional ICE vehicles, larger vehicles result in higher margins, while it’s the opposite with EVs, because the batteries have to be so big and they’re so expensive. I suppose as batteries get cheaper that could change, but that’s why he’s been...

    Diesel Range Extender option please.

Generally the tone in these forums has been respectful, polite and apolitical. Sorry if I misjudged that in this case. You might be new here, I’d recommend lurking a while to get a sense of things. The generally positive tone and staying away from insults has lead to a positive experience and...

    Diesel Range Extender option please.

Well, it’s an exaggeration to say it’s a ”utopia”, but it is a great place to live.

NADA going after Scout Direct to Consumer

Yeah, but if your business model requires the government to make your competitors illegal, that seems problematic.

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

It may be a small thing, but that’s what gives me hope about scout: they’re not just blindly following everything Tesla does like so many other manufacturers. They’re thinking through what works and what people want.

    Lithium Battery Firewall/extinguisher?

Agreed, that’s a good point. It would be a major bummer if a small puncture lead to the vehicle going up in flames, which is certainly conceivable.
