  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What are y'all hoping Scout Community UX™ might bring?

Yeah, I’ve seen rivian reps claim that they don’t have CarPlay/AA because it takes over the whole screen, so you have to exit to get to other stuff, but I don’t see any reason that it couldn’t share the screen, especially such a wide one.

    Driving Sounds

I think the requirements are only at low speeds and are focused on what you hear outside the car. Lots of ev manufacturers also add sounds intended for the driver (and passengers) that “sound cool” and give some feedback about speed or acceleration. I’m pretty sure those sounds are optional...

    DROPDOWN REAR WINDOW

Just curious, what do you see is the biggest advantage of having split tailgate vs traditional suv hatch?

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Not to get too far off topic but according to https://www.poolelg.com/blog/the-truth-behind-the-mcdonald-s-hot-coffee-case-.cfm: “During the trial, it was revealed that McDonald’s knew that heating their coffee to this temperature would be dangerous, but they did it anyway because it would save...

I know this is off topic, but any tips for someone about to buy a framework 13?

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

Regen is really not that new, hybrids have been using it for at least 20 years.

Integrated Racks into rear spare tire

Or you just have your handy-dandy Optimus robot load it on the roof rack for you. I’m sure they’ll be available any day now. ???

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

Wake me when I can take a nap while the car is driving, or when it can drop me off at the front door and go park itself until I need it again. ‘Til then it seems like just a minor convenience, not worth paying a lot of money for.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I’m curious, it seems like SC has pretty strong pro-dealer laws, how will scout get around that and be able to sell direct from the factory?

    Scout Design Ideas

Definitely would prefer the charge port on the passenger side. Toward the front would be even better.

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

Again, and I blame car manufacturers for this, people tend to conflate “one pedal driving” with “regen”. Regen is a no brainer with EVs and hybrids, but it’s completely orthogonal to one pedal driving. I think when people dis “regen” they’re really talking about one pedal driving, not the...

    Portable solar charger

Good points. In addition, we should understand the numbers here, in the example above, being 50 miles away from charging with a 100 W panel, assuming an optimistic 5 mi per kWh, if you go slow, it would take 50 hours of full sunlight, eg a week or more in the summer. Maybe a 1kw set of cells...

    Too much AI

I have not, so experience might change my mind a bit. I’ve heard good things about ford and GM hands free, though they’re not cheap. It would have to be pretty helpful for me to pay a significant amount of money for it.

    Too much AI

My thinking is it’s not real self-driving until the manufacturer is ready to accept full legal liability for anything that goes wrong. I love the idea of having my car drop me off then go park itself, or of napping during the boring parts of a long drive, but til that happens I’m happy with...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

I wholeheartedly agree, but sadly there are some EVs (including Tesla) that don’t have blended braking; where the brake pedal is purely friction braking. Technically, I suppose there’s still some “blending” because of regen triggered by having your foot off the gas, but the brake pedal is not...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

To be fair, I don’t think Norway is big enough to skew the numbers. On the other hand, Chinese manufacturers are big enough and successful enough that they’re starting to put serious pressure on older manufacturers. Nissan, probably the number 3 Japanese manufacturer is in dire straits...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Yes, but I’m thinking there are fewer of those these days. The outrageous markups started during the COVID when there was a shortage of cars and still a lot of Ev enthusiasts looking for their first ev, and not many ev models. 2 or 3 years later, and they aren’t as much of a novelty and most...

What do you love or hate about other off-road vehicles

Ok, I know this isn’t what you mean by lift, but I remember reading a readers digest from 1942 about the then new Willy’s Jeep. When it got stuck straddling a log, 2 guys (probably soldiers with a good amount of upper body strength) were able to lift it up and over and continue on their way. I...
