  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    48volt accessories?

As far as I know, current rivians use a 12v system. The zonal architecture is about how systems are structured and networked together (fewer bigger computers vs lots of different independent ones), not about the voltage. The zonal architecture is about improving reliability, flexibility and...

    Heated cup holder

Tom Moloughney from State of Charge actually did something like this on a “Race” from NJ to FL in his F150 Lightning. He plugged in a portable pizza oven sitting on the console between him and his passenger and cooked pizza while they were driving. Apparently it did look a little bit like they...

Charge port at front, passenger side

    Right-hand side charging access

As I’ve suspected, Tesla did not have any good reason to put it where they did. It just happened to be convenient for the garage in the house that EM was living when they were designing model s. Tesla owners have been backing into parking spaces ever since for no reason...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

As long as we’re talking Augmented Reality, i’d like something that will replace the scenery on boring drives. E.g. maybe show a lunar landscape when driving down I 10. Or maybe flying through space effect like in Star Trek. I always wanted my own shuttle craft! ?

Make Sure Traveler is drivable with tailgate/liftgate open.

Or maybe I’m wrong about that - https://scoutmotors.community.forum/threads/removable-traveler-spare-tire-mount.1534/ Hard to keep up. I need to take J Alynn’s course on how to use the search bar :)

Make Sure Traveler is drivable with tailgate/liftgate open.

Yeah, initially I was wondering if the swing arm could be removable, but it doesn’t look that way. Won’t fit in my garage either.

Hot take: 18-22" Wheels on Base Model

Yeah, now I want 18” tires on 20” wheels. People would stop and stare ?

Make Sure Traveler is drivable with tailgate/liftgate open.

Ok, another reason to stick with 33” tires ?

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Plus you don’t have to worry about CO poisoning.

    Range and Competitiveness

It’s not actually that simple. If you’re comparing n full cycles to m full cycles, then the smaller number is probably better, but if you’re talking about the same number of miles, and therefore kWh, it’s not clear that one big charging session is better than several small ones.

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

Yeah, but when I go to the grocery store, they don’t charge a transportation fee, a packaging fee, a food safety fee, etc. A pet peeve of mine is when a sales rep tries to justify all these tacked on fees when they’re just the cost of doing business for them. It’s just a way to advertise...

    Range and Competitiveness

Unless you have a dc fast charger at home, you really don’t need to worry about charging it daily n terms of “wear and tear”

    Size comparison

When you say “mount below”, is that inside or outside the vehicle? Ie, under the floor or pulled up underneath?

Does Scout Motors Need A Challenge Coin Too?

Unfortunately, the way I understand it, the laws that dealers have put in place make this impossible in most states. Once you deal with dealers you’re forever stuck with them and not allowed to sell direct. That’s why direct sales are only an option for new companies. It’s ridiculous but...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Several EVs have heated windshields, including ford, Hyundai (according to the big G), Porsche, and maybe others. Thermal imaging would be cool (no pun intended ?)

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

I feel the same, though I have to admit that my daughter is able to type quickly witout looking on her touchscreen phone.

    Traveler without the Spare

Admittedly tires have gotten better and I don’t get flats as often as I used to, at least not in everyday driving, but last time I got a flat I changed it. Didn’t want to wait 45 min to an hour and a half for AAA. I wouldn’t mind having a smaller spare that fit under the floor or something...
