  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Traveler and Terra Photo Collections and Wallpapers

Ok, I never noticed the truncated corners, that looks cool. Definitely need a battlestar galactica theme now. #nerdalert #bg2004

Fortunately we have paid professionals with full access to the relevant information who recommend best practices and enforce legal requirements and consequences when things go awry.

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

The ones I’ve tried in Hyundai/kia vehicles don’t block anything.

    Traveler without rear tire carrier

I was kinda hoping for something cool like the Terra tailgate if you don’t opt for the spare carrier.

How is this stuff patentable? It looks like a typical roof top tent and a trailer made from a chopped pickup truck.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

That’s a valid concern and I expect that’s one of the things they’ll be evaluating. There are a lot of unknowns, hence the value of trials. Remember, there’s a big difference between cycling 0 to 100% vs 30 to 70%, or how fast the charging/discharging happens, or the temp the battery hits, &c...

    Battery Capacity Options

In that case, since it’s all controlled by software, one could have a “tire saver” setting that limits the torque at low speed or something. Not that anyone would want to use it ?

I expect it’s difficult to tell from wide pics exactly what the environmental implications are, that’s why they have experienced experts evaluate this stuff and make recommendations. This is talking about mitigation in another location so it shouldn’t impact building the factory, ie I don’t see...

Scout should publish info about EREV driving modes

So, just to confirm, you’re saying that the production version will go faster than 20mph? ???

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

I’m really hoping they don’t tie too many features to packages or trim levels. I’d really like to pick and choose.

Power density is also affected by chemistry, and a host of other characteristics, it’s not just capacity and charging speed.

Volkswagen EVs to Get Tesla Supercharger Access

Well, there (overnight at hotels) you might be talking about destination chargers, which are a whole different thing. Destination chargers are AC and don’t involve as much complexity, so it’s easier to adapt those across car brands. On CCS the ac chargers actually have a different plug that’s...

Volkswagen EVs to Get Tesla Supercharger Access

I think first GEN uses different communication standard. There’s a lot of digital messages going back-and-forth to get things working, which makes it more complicated than just a simple adapter. Later generations use the same communication standard as CCS, I believe though there’s always little...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

That’s a good analogy. And I’d add that 1 pedal driving is like being in first gear, but without rpm limits. You can go as fast as you want but when you take your foot off the gas it can slow down very suddenly. I’m sure we’ve all experienced driving stick in an older car where the brakes...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

It’s not really a characteristic of EVs, it’s the way 1 pedal driving is designed/ calibrated. With one pedal driving any time you take your foot off the gas you’re effectively hitting the brakes. You have to be very careful to get a smooth ride. People get hung up on 1 pedal because they...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Again, regen != 1 pedal. There’s no reason the brake pedal can’t rely on regen as much as possible.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Yeah, they were making outrageous claims with no justification or explanation about how great their products were going to be, as though they had some magic secret sauce. I was dumbfounded when companies like GM fell for it, like they didn’t have any technical folks evaluating it at all.
