  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Long-Term Paint Protection: PPF, Coatings, and Launch Availability

I'm not sure I would trust myself. It's definitely something I'll look into, but I would love to have a workmanship warranty from a reputable installer if possible.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Scoutsie, I appreciate the apology for the personal comment. Regarding the rest of your post, if there is a specific data point you want to challenge—whether it’s the Cybertruck pricing shifts, the median cost of off-roaders, or the €1.2 billion CapEx increase straight from VW’s earnings...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Jamie, fair enough. I don’t doubt for a second that the engineering, design, and manufacturing teams are world-class. The vehicle looks amazing, which is exactly why I’m here, holding my reservation, and rooting for you guys to succeed. But from a consumer standpoint, "trusting the process" is...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@Scoutsie, I’d appreciate it if we could keep the conversation focused on the vehicles and the market data, and refrain from personal attacks. Whether someone is married, single, or navigating a divorce doesn't change the math on a €1.2 billion corporate cost overrun. I am here because I am...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Jamie, I appreciate the direct reply. If the €1.2 billion to develop the EREV was fully baked into the original baseline budget from day one, then I happily stand corrected. However, the earnings call specifically cited the overwhelming 80+% demand for the Harvester as the catalyst for this...

Long-Term Paint Protection: PPF, Coatings, and Launch Availability

I found one thread that loosely discussed this, but I was hoping for some more real-world experience if anyone has any to share. I plan on keeping my Scout for a very long time, and I fully intend to get it out on the trails. Living down in Texas, the brush can be incredibly unforgiving, and...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Jamie is doing his job well here, and I don't fault him for the PR response. It’s textbook corporate communication to reassure the base. But we need to separate the marketing semantics from the financial reality. The counter-argument to the VW earnings report seems to hinge on this quote...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Just read the CarBuzz article that discusses VW's latest earnings call. They stated that Scout is reportedly €1.2 billion over budget. They referenced the overwhelming (and unexpected) demand for the EREV. I find that surprising. In other markets, I would understand if they didn't expect that...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

That is a totally fair point on the TRD Pro data. A 75% price jump over a decade is wild, and it perfectly illustrates the macroeconomic headwinds the entire industry is dealing with right now. You are absolutely right that it is a brutal environment for Scout to launch in. Despite all my...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I appreciate the deep dive into macroeconomic history and fiat currency, but your entire essay rests on a single, fatal assumption. I am 41 years old. I am an elder Millennial. You confidently stated that my financial path—saving a massive portion of my income on an enlisted military salary...

    Scout delayed??

Scout Brand relaunched in 2022. New Scout debuted in October 2024. I see my misunderstanding now.

    Scout delayed??

I think I might be misunderstanding you. The Scout was announced in 2024, right?

    Scout delayed??

I've always had it in my mind that it would be here in 2028, so I'm not sure if this changes my expectation.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@R1TVT, I think we might just fundamentally view the timeline and health of this market differently, and that's fair. We will definitely see how 2027 and 2028 play out. But I want to take a step back from the back-and-forth for a minute, because I realize my pushback on the $60k+ pricing...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

First, fair play to @robothero on the Cybertruck pricing update. Tesla yanking the price back up to $70,000 after a fire sale is peak market chaos, and I’ll absolutely own that my previous data point on that is already outdated. However, the fact that Tesla felt the need to slash the price by...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Stepping back from the recent debate on manufacturing practices, I want to refocus on the core issue we’ve been tracking: pricing and the rapid shift in the EV market. Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen undeniable moves from major automakers that prove the industry is aggressively...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

The news of Canada lowering its tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles to 6.1%—with an initial cap of 49,000 units—is a significant development for the North American market. This agreement effectively replaces the previous 100% surtax, and as reported by The Drive, it has triggered a "full panic...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I came across this report from the Financial Times today and thought it was relevant to our discussion about where the truck market is actually heading (versus where it was in 2021). Don't think I can link the specific article but you can search the title if curious. Ford held talks with...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I stated I am a Veteran to give you context on who you are talking to, and your response was to double down and tell me that I'm spreading "talking points from the CCP"? That says far more about your character than it does about my "ideology." Moving away from your unnecessary second personal...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I usually ignore the personal attacks, but I’m going to stop you right there. I am a US Air Force Veteran and a single father living in Texas. Calling a fellow reservation holder "Chinese Agitprop" because you disagree with their economic outlook is not "product expertise"—it is delusional and...
