  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

All this recent talk about how much the Scout will cost got me thinking about all the software issues I've been seeing in expensive cars. Polestar 2 - I own one - the software is really average and have dealt with years of issues. I could easily post a wall of text about the issues I've had...

    What age group are you?

Looks like I'm the far younger side.. Turning 30 next month. I'm super excited for the Scout. Dunno a thing about heritage, I just think what the team has made is a beautiful, timeless design, and has an excellent approach to the technology/engineering. I found out about the Scout while...

    Harvester towing

This is what I do today xD The Scout is supposed to be an indulgence that replaces this hassle, among many other improvements :)

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

++ for charging from the front, I really hope that ends up being the case! (Though I hope they still keep outlets near the bed of the truck as those are currently integrated in the same component as the charge port as far as I can see). Getting from point A to point B without unhitching is a...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

@SpaceEVDriver question about the chargers in that map.. Are these just all DCFCs in general, or are they chargers that are known to be accessible with a trailer? For example, there's an Electrify America charging station on my way from Columbus to Sandusky. Ignoring the fact that 4 of the 8...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

I am in exactly the same camp and I have a reservation for the Terra EREV. Here's my post about this: link You're making your voice heard by posting here, and Scout employees are absolutely keeping up with forums.

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

My Polestar 2 lets you disable every single smart feature for cruise, but it's all several menus deep in the infotainment. That said, it remembers your settings between drives, so if you turn off steering assist and following distance and such it stays off.

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

Welcome to the forums! I believe towing capacity just has to do with the outright size of the battery. More individual cells = higher discharge rate = more power for towing. Harvester takes up the space that's otherwise allocated for more cells in the BEV version. That said, the harvester...

    Software Features

I guess the answer is settings, settings, and more settings. No way to please everyone, but make things customizable whenever possible!

    Software Features

Speaking of start buttons - one thing I absolutely love about the Polestar 2 is that it doesn't have one. It just turns on when you get in the car and turns off when you get out. In contrast, my dad's Rav 4 Prime needs to be turned off and on, and I have left it on 100% of the time when driving...

    Software Features

I suppose the driver's seat approach does have the issue of if my wife's profile is the current one and I want to drive the car, then I cannot actually sit in the seat to trigger the profile switch when it's in her driving position... Tricky problem.

    Software Features

I have this exact issue with my current car (2021 Polestar 2). Both my wife and I have our phones paired as car keys, and both of us also carry our fobs with us. It is a total toss up which profile will be picked by the car when we both get into the car. That said, 99% of the time I am the one...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Well. I know it will drive a bigole generator for the bigole main battery. I was talking about it also having a traditional 14v alternator to charge the 12v alongside that. In theory they could get away with having the harvester just charge the main battery and then the main battery charges the...

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

Ohh, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to hear. Ty! Hard to believe there's a system with zero pitfalls but I sure hope so. Always nice to see zero complaints

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

Roger that. Levels aside though I'm hoping to hear some opinions about what people desire for the actual execution of it. Curious what others find good/bad about their current UX and system behaviors.

    Plug in hybrid.

Nailed the explanation while I was typing it. I'm a bit confused by the original question - is this commentary on rumors that Scout is making the Harvester first and BEV second? Or is this asking if the EREV qualifies as a Plug in hybrid, which it certainly should.

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

We know that Scout will offer some level of adaptive cruise control, lane assist, maybe limited self driving of some sort. I'd like to open a discussion about the behavior of these assists. Voice your experiences regarding vehicles you've driven and what you did/did not like about each of their...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

I'm certainly very curious how Scout is going to manage packaging the 12v battery along with the harvester while maintaining a large frunk. Presumably the harvester has an alternator? Or maybe not? Curious how that will dictate packaging, but we can only wait and see.. This all ties into how...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

I have a Launch Edition 2021 Polestar 2. It was their first EV and they've certainly worked out quite a few quirks since the early days. Def agree it's an awful oversight - hence my comment here about it. Presumably it's an easy mistake to make for a new company given what I'm dealing with. I...

    Software Features

Big ++ for that! I'd loooove some retro speedos to pick from. If we're gonna talk "fun/gimmick" software stuff, that's def where it's at. I don't have a car wash mode on my EV, almost certainly a Tesla thing. I can just put my car in neutral and it's just fine. That said, I will never take my...
