  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I assume that the Xterra Roofline , and first aid kit bump will be required in the design. Otherwise how would you even know it was an Xterra??? Also, MARKUPS!!!

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The XTerra was one of the few actual SUV's around for a while, and was really interesting in its time. Nissan has had a ROUGH go of things lately. But if they nail this, they might stabilize a bit more. You never know. Apparently the new leaf is pretty decent though, so its a good sign.

    Regenerative braking

This is very useful. Mine does something like this, although its more of a "shows you a bar that fills with regen". I assume that when you are braking, and the regen bar is all the way filled, that it blends into friction brakes. But AFAIK there isn't an actual "hey, you're riding your brakes"...

    Regenerative braking

EV Car sickness feeling is really down to two separate things. 1) In an EV, it is quieter. And the normal audible cues we have to be able to tell if we're trying to accelerate or slow down (engine noise rising/disappearing) are typically gone. Imagine closing your eyes as a passenger, and going...

    The scout stake pockets

Sure, totally makes sense. I actually don’t think I have ever heard them called anything in any official media (like a spec sheet or diagram). It’s totally possible stake pockets was some sort of local/regional slang term. Was more trying to convey that I’d heard the term than anything else...

    The scout stake pockets

I’ve only ever heard these referred to as “stake pockets”, fwiw. When I worked landscaping, we mostly used them for attaching tie downs, or temporary taller sides to the bed (using stuff like plywood and 2x4’s or other stakes). I think they’re used for camper inserts too, but I’ve never...

    Regenerative braking

I may try to have my wife photograph some of this on ours sometime. For my Ioniq 9, regen level 0 provides 3kw or so of energy. Level 1 is something like a max of 15-20kw. And off the top of my head I want to say one pedal (level 4) provided as much as 75-90kw of braking. (For context...

    A Gift From Scout Motors

At this point who knows. I see they’ve still got 322 days until Christmas!

Bi-directional Charging / Home Power Backup

V2H is different than V2L. V2L is literally just the ability to plug anything into the EV, and power it. Most of the time this is achieved either through power outlets in the vehicle, or with an adapter/dongle that plugs into the charging port. V2H is generally meant to imply the functionality...

    Define your lifestyle….

Lifestyle: Passionate Mountain biker/Outdoorsman, Father of an Active family (2 kids, Soccer, Mountain biking, hiking, camping) . I've also mentored a group of 15-18yr old boys for about 10 years, and get to take them (and other adult mentors/advisors) on outdoor adventures a few times...

    Regenerative braking

Ah, so I sort of misread this last night. On my Hyundai, Regen braking is on a scale from 0 - 4, with 0 being effectively none (like putting the clutch in on a manual transmission), and 4 being 1 pedal driving. It does have smoothly blended braking on the brake pedal, even with regen set to...

    Regenerative braking

I caught a ride to work with a buddy a while back. He has an F150 lightning. I usually don’t get carsick. But on the drive back home at night in rain… I had some inklings of it. I blame his light switch style throttle control as the root cause (literally was a stab, then Release, stab, then...

Coastal Vibes: The “Pacific Mist” Scout Traveler Concept

Oh, this is the first I've heard of this part. I've heard it will be available with/without it. But I somehow was under the understanding that the carrier would be user removeable/attachable. This just reenforces my desire to have multiple spare tire options (especially if underfloor isn't an...

What would you be willing to pay for a paint color?

Fundamentally, I really struggle with car companies charging more for different paint colors. Its probably a "me" problem because a new vehicle to me is a yuuuuuuge expense, and I'm already scraping the edge of my budget (or past it), and then being "nickel and dimed" for a different color...

Moab / Canyonlands NP / Arches NP trip in a Terra-like Electric Pickup (F-150 Lightning)

I’ve meant to ask you a few times. What are you using to generate the elevation profiles for your routes?

Week renting a Rivian R1S Quad motor

This is the exact reason that I didn't put a deposit down on the R2. I actually really like the R1S styling (R1T less so, doesn't work quite as well for me for some reason). I like the frunk, and its capabilities. Its even really close to the right size for us. But the decision to make...

    3rd row option

I have exactly 1 memory of a reverse seat station wagon. And Brian Regan summed it up excellently.

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

@Jamie@ScoutMotors Like you said, I'm sure there will be some that just fill it with gas. But I think IMO, the real game changer, is when they see the difference in price to drive their daily commute/runabout stuff, if they're willing to try. In fact, it might be worth having something to...

    Jamie Vondruska On With ROMR

For those of us who haven't the time yet today, but still have the curiosity, what are the key learnings/new tidbits of information that was announced/discovered today? Is there a quick cliffnotes/bullet point list? Also, perhaps embarrassingly, I have no idea what ROMR Adventures is, other...

    Long distance EV towing video

Lol, this is great. Like when the old joke where the newspaper article reports "Breaking news, 50% of Children's test scores are BELOW AVERAGE".
