  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Possible competition?

My impression of the Ford Lightning (in terms of design & development) was that they intentionally short-cut the process by removing the engine (creating a frunk) and removed the drivetrain components to make room for stuffing a battery into a reinforced frame. In the short term, this was likely...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

No, not too far North. This does happen everywhere. This is a pic from Le Massif de Charlevoix north of Quebec from an ice storm in 2018. It rained, then it dropped to -28 F. Then it warmed back up and the sun came out. I think it is important to keep these things in context, b/c there are a...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

For the record, I have driven through blizzards, ice storms, record breaking cold, etc. and NEVER ONCE had my charge port door freeze shut. I often times will also charge all day at a ski area parking lots on LII chargers, and have never had an issue CLOSING the charge port door. I'm not saying...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

The other great thing about Hands-Free functionality is its extreme usefulness in intermittent cases. Say for example, you drop something on the floor, or you need to remove your jacket, or you need to reach for something in the back seat, or you spill something, or you bought something that you...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

This is a fairly pessimistic perspective in my view. The reality is that most EV batteries made today will see very little degradation and outlast the vehicle in many cases. I would also point to current EV battery pack warranties that are in place for consumer protection. Now consider...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

We've all been conditioned to believe that $40K hits the mark. This is psychological warfare and I won't stand for it. We all know Scout will never add a new variant in the future. This will be their sole opportunity to dominate world markets. Scout has a chance to defy all logic and reason -...

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

Yes, but its fairly natural in its implementation and depends on speed and radius of the corner of course

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

We have discussed this a little in the past, but think about your sensors & cameras as being like eyes and sending information back to your brain. Without those eyes, you have less information to work with. The above disclaimer is what I get with Driver+ and if a the system gets blocked because...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Perfect scenario (in my mind for LII driving) is when you finally hit the NJ Turnpike after driving South for 4+ hours and its a straight shot to Delaware with ABSOLUTELY ZERO joy of driving. Slap that sucker into Driver+ and REEEEeeeelax.

Rivian just announced new Ai chip for level 4 autonomous driving

Yes, Rivian's Gen 2 vehicles do provide for L2+. See below from Rivian: Introducing Rivian Autonomy Platform+ A premium version of the system, Rivian Autonomy Platform+, is available on our second-generation vehicles and features an even broader set of enhanced capabilities. To start, Rivian...

    Harvester Battery Size

Without a LII home charger, I would not own an EV. The convenience alone is worth more than paying for gas. But, yes, the ROI equation is also important and it will absolutely pay for itself over time. Unless I lived in the city and had chargers in a garage or something along those lines, I...

Excellent, just another reason to go PURE BEV with the TERRA.

Towing with an EV - Rivian R1S Style

Of course you wouldn't to buy an EV for long haul towing into your area (with more limited charging infrastructure). As I have said all along, if you need to tow long distances, you will need to make more frequent stops, so you will want more infrastructure. I would never consider buying an EV...

Towing with an EV - Rivian R1S Style

I have had so much free charging in many different places in the last 3 years, but never once in my life have I ever had anyone give me a free tank of gas!

Towing with an EV - Rivian R1S Style

Would be a good data point to reference battery size for those that don't watch the video too. TFL gets a little "sensationalist" for clicks.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Is the R2 overpriced at $45? We'll have to wait and see what production brings, but i'm not uncomfortable saying that the Rivian R2 crossover priced at $45K is MUCH closer to reaching parity on the S-Curve with the ICE crossover market than the R1 with the ICE Truck & SUV market. This is a...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I thought we already talked about how this could be an important part of a "phase II" strategy for Scout once they are established? Which companies have already been through the early phases of development and established themselves and can more easily diversify their portfolios with a mass...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Pure BEV isn't for everyone. I'm the complete polar opposite - There is no way in hell I am going back to gas. The majority of my trips I can run from my home charger with Zero range issues and never need a gas station. Many of my long distance trips have a LII charger waiting while my truck is...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I do wish you luck on fast forwarding the space time continuum. To be fair and since you are new to this forum, we've had some discussion regarding whether or not Scout's 2027 price targets can hold. They have been skating toward a future target with 2027 in mind. Hopefully they can evade a...
